Up here in the True North, Breitling has not done a price increase as of yet. The American dollar is strong right now, so this is the perfect time. I am sure Canada will be doing a price change very soon.

As of when? If it's not since 1990, I'll be up there tomorrow.

That might be worth a look, although I don't know how taxes or import duties fit into the picture. (BTW, that avatar could cause seizures in those who have epilepsy.)

Welcome to B-Source.

Thanks for the welcome.

I believe you get the taxes back once you apply. You could call LA Swiss for prices. (604) 682-3088

yup no increase as of yet. i talked to my AD about this the other day and asked when he thought it was suppose to happen. we were suppose to get one in oct but nothing.

i still think that americans get a better deal down there. since they can negotiate at least 25% off plus save on the sales tax by shipping out of state.

No tax refunds for years, and certainly nothing in HST provinces.

The last couple of weeks has made Canadian prices more attractive for US residents because of the the exchange rate change, but Grigoros (Canadian distributor and owner of the La Swiss chain) doesn't like stores selling to US buyers because BUSA get's annoyed. Certainly tough to get a watch shipped to the US from La Swiss.

LA Swiss will sell to anyone. They do not care, and they will give discounts. Just go into the store and ask.
Their stock is low. You suggested get another AD....... Pow!!!!! LA Swiss is one of them. There are only two in Vancouver. They both have trouble with stock. Breitling only sends a small amount of stock to Canada. I know the world evolves around Ontario  but even there, you have to wait for the SA. I have done alot of business with AD's in Ontario also, and they have problems getting stock. Long wait for my Steelfish, long with for my SA, long waith for my SOH46. All came from back East.

I've had many conversations with both La Swiss and Grigoros about this, and Grigoros has made their position very clear, as soon as BUSA starts making noise, they tell their ADs to stop the sales to US customers. Walk in the store and ask and it's less of an issue because the store can claim ignorance. Discounts for serious repeat buyers can now beat US because of changes in margin, but it's not automatic to get to that level.

Breitling send as many watches to Canada as Grigoros orders - the only partially filled orders are for LEs, although there can sometimes be delays. The real stock issue in Canada is that La Swiss is run as a competition between the stores and so many, many store managers refuse to share stock across branches.

In Vancouver, I'd take T&G over La Swiss every time.

Prior to ordering my TO Chrono LE (july 2011), I called to get the MSRP in Canada. The MSRP was pretty much the same. Therefore the discount negotiated between an AD in the US or Canada will be just that, whatever you can negotiate. The killer in Canada is the 7-15% sales tax, if you are a walk-in! By mail, it is difficult to create that relationship to get discounts.

The most discount that I have seen in US was 35%-40% for going out of business or stores that are leaving the brand.

Average discount that I have seen in Canada or US has always been, end-game, around 20-25%.

I ended up ordering in the US.

Cheers
Brez
PS I am Canadian currently living in the US.

Does anyone know if we should expect a price increase in the US before year end? I hear a little bird mention it, and honestly I had assumed there would not be another for sometime.
