I have a Chronomat Evolution with the Red face - Purchased new in December of '07 from a certified seller in the U.S. (We actually purchased 3 of them for partners.)

I wear mine everyday and even sleep in it about 2 nights a week. There are no defects on it - other than the clasp where it is scratched from me dragging it across tables/etc. Never been dropped.

Unfortunately, I have begun to notice that it is not keeping good time. The clock can be off by as much as 5 minutes fast within a single week. This is more than annoying since I rarely take it off.

None of my much cheaper motion based watches were ever off by this much.... Why should the most expensive piece of jewelry I have ever owned do this?

Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Do I just have a bad one or does it just need service...

If it has only just started doing this then it may simply need regulating. It's possible that a knock caused the regulation to be off. It shouldn't need a service if you bought it new.

Either way - it's still under warranty so take it in and get it sorted.

That's really unusual. I've worn my Evo for over two
years, and on average it gains just 30 seconds or so a month.
Since your watch is still under warranty, I'd get it in to your AD
as soon as you can. The problem shouldn't be too serious.

Maybe it was magnetized, though it might be off by more than 5 min/day if it was. Either way, your dealer can sort it out for you, likely free of charge since it may very well be a warranty issue.

Ok, thanks for the advice - I'll send it in for service/warranty/ to be regulated. I bought it from Finks in Charlotte, but one here in Raleigh, NC said he could send it in for me.

Regulating is something that the AD should be able to do in the store rather than sending away.

Agreed.

You should just be able to walk into the AD, bringing the watch and the warranty card and they should check the watch for magnetism/COSC deviations right there. Then if it needs to be adjusted, they might need to send it.
