There are two watches that I've wanted for a long time now; grails of sorts. And I've found both of them at once!

I've always wanted a Pult from the 1970s, especially one of the automatics. At last I've found one in pretty good condition. The hands have been changed but apart from that it seems fine and from a reputable dealer.

But I've also wanted a Cossie for a while and I've found a good Serie Limited! The buyer wants more for it than i think it's worth but there's hope.

My problem now is which to buy. They're very different watches. The cossie is more formal, the Pult is more unusual and sporty. I feel like good auto Pults come along very rarely. The Pult is about $800 cheaper than the lowest i could draw the Cossie to. But i really love that display back and the dressiness of the Cossie!

Horns of a dilemma! I'm not so much looking for advice so much as sharing a choice we all face from time to time. But I'm happy to hear your thoughts!

The no date Lemani Cossie is an all time classic from Bretling. I would be hard pressed to pass that up in your position. Jmo

This time I will weigh in and say the always cheesy "both". Extra cost for the Pult should be manageable (relatively) and worth a little pain for the lack of them around in automatic form.

Ok,
I'll come clean. The Pult is looking to be around $2700 (AU, roughly same as $US) and the seller wants $4500 for the Cossie. I was kind of hoping to bring the Cossie down to $3.5 thru negotiation. Now, given the length of a piece of string etc, how reasonable do those prices sound for each? The Cossie has box but no papers, but was serviced in August. It also comes with the bracelet. To be honest i can really only afford one.

Prices are stoooopid.

I got my DB Cossie cheap on aftermarket strap, but paid GBP1,500 - about C$2,700 at the time, real price should have been (and still is) in the $3,200 - $3,500 range - closer to the high end on bracelet, and maybe slightly higher wit ha recent service.

Now the Pult.......... When Old World had some NOS ones they were selling them for around US$1,200 if memory serves. I think that theirs were all manual, but still - $1,500 - $1,800.

Well I have decided... My new Cossie Series Speciale with display back! (The Bezel isn't discoloured; just the glare from overhead light)

Nice watch - and that Lemania movement is gorgeous.
