Hi there all, Hoping for a bit of advice as a new owner of a superocean heritage chronograph. This is my first automatic watch. I am having to change it the date manually at the end of the month, - does this watch have a perpetual calendar or is this standard practice? - When adjusting the date, should I simply wind the watch round past 12 O’clock or should I adjust the date without moving the hands? Also my watch seems to loses 5-10 seconds per day, is this to be expected or is there possibly something wrong with the watch? – How often should I be setting the time to ensure accuracy? -I do not use a watch winder at the moment and I don't wear it while sleeping, is this the problem? I appreciate these may seem like basic questions however since getting this watch I am paranoid about winding it incorrectly and damaging the mechanism somehow. |

1) It does not have a perpetual calendar. It assumes that each month has 31 days. 2) See this thread among others - viewtopic.php?f=12&t=33852 3) The watch is COSC certified which means accuracy from -4 to +6 seconds per day. If the watch is new or recently serviced it may take a few weeks to settle into that. If it's losing more than that then it can be regulated by an AD with a watchmaker. 4) Not wearing the watch at night is no issue, you should provide more than enough power reserve from simple wearing and the watch has a 42 hour reserve when fully wound. If you lay the watch on it's side at night then changing to lay it on its back may cause it to lose slightly less and bring it closer to COSC specs. |
