Hi guys.

I bought my first Breitling this week, a Super Avenger on leather clasp.

Just have a few questions regarding the clasp strap.

When I wear my watch, I find the strap is overly bent.

But found some pics online where the strap retains a more normal bend.

Any ideas why mine is like this?
I have small wrists and as a result of this, I've adjusted the strap such that the tail actually exceeds the steelbit with "Breitling" on it. Not sure if this may be the cause.

Also, I find that the clasp opens with minimal force. It doesn't come undone, but just a little force and it unlocks. A little concerned about this since the watch is quite chunky and I'm worried it may catch when I take my jacket off.

If it's a new strap it will take a while to break in, and then it will start to become a little flatter, but it will always look like that to a certain degree : it's just the design of the deployant. Don't try to accelerate the breaking in time of the strap - just let it happen. As it breaks in you will probably need to adjust it tighter but in a few weeks it'll fit fine.

If you feel the clasp comes open too easily you can adjust it yourself. Do a search on here for clasp adjustment as Ron produced a short article on it. (I'm on my iPhone so can't easily find it for you now)

I have a Navi 01 LE with a croc strap and it looks exactly the same. Their deployment clasp design more or less forces that little bend. I don't see this as a problem. JMHO.

As Driver8 says they flatten out with time, at least all of mine have. Likely a larger wrist helps.

Or loose the patience and go with a tang leather strap!! On a serious note, please update us on this. I too grew weary of the leather / croc on deployant because of the same issue.

So basically, I just bend the metal with "BREITLING" on it, so the bar is harder to push into the notch?

I have been considering a croc on deployant but this and several other threads on the matter make me nervous. I currently have a black calf tang that fits pretty good on the last hole with my 6.75 inch wrists.

However....I would like a little more bulk than a 22mm tang to carry a 43-44mm watch or bigger. My 22mm calf does an ok job of keeping my Navi upright on my wrist, so I would like a bit more secure of a fit on any future purchases.

I worry that the deployant and all that leather is just too bulky and will never stretch or mold to my smaller wrists.

Any smaller wrist guys have opinions on the fit over time?

The SA is too big for your wrist. Problem solved.

The Breitling deploy just isn't a good design for many wrists - under 7" and it is too long and bulky. My wrist is 6&1/2 and I can't wear one. I have to push the one end of the strap too far in and then the thicker part of the strap has to bend though that opening. That is what I see happening on your pics. I agree you need a tang buckle. Sorry.

Yep, that's the thread.

Personally I really like the Breitling deployant as it's infinitely adjustable, as you aren't limited to where-ever the holes are drilled in the strap on most deployants and tang and buckle straps. That said, if it doesn't suit your wrist size or shape then it's never going to fit perfectly.
