I want a true black face, not one that is black sometimes and grey the others. My SuperOcean Chrono was 'black' but to me it was dark grey and black only some of the time in the correct light or angle.... Thanks in advance. |

I know what you mean. I had a Chrono M1 that was a black face, but looked blue half the time. The Skyland looks black all the time to me. Good luck, its a great watch. ![]() |

Yes, the black Skyland dial looks black all the time, that's one of the reasons that I thought it looked so good on the Ocean Racer. My Steelfish, on the other hand, looks blue or grey at times because of the pattern on the dial. The Skyland has no such pattern. |

I have a black Skyland and can concur, it looks black all the time. You can catch the AR coating in the light just right and make the numbers looks a bit bluish, but the dial still looks black. |

Black! Black! Black! I got a Blacksteel, which is the same face as the regular stainless black, except for the dials and some numerals, which are red instead of white. It doesn't matter what light you have it in, it is unmistakably black. Cheers, Carl[/code] |

Thank you all, that's what I need to know. Seems like there are not too many truely black dials available. |

I think that the black dials really are all black. The difference is the treatment on some of the dials, like the guilloche treatment on the Steelfish, sometimes the way it reflects the light at different angles gives it a different tone. I noticed with my SuperOcean, that it always looked real black, but the dial wasn't treated. That may be why some of the dials don't give the appearance of being black all the time, some even look a little like dark blue at times. Cheers, Carl |

Yes, my blackface cockpit big date has a blue tint crystal, so in sunlight it appears a "flat" navy color When under lighting, it appears shiny, glorious black with golden romans..awesome |
