Post subject: | Help- need recommendation- for an enty level Breitling |
Hi, I am new to the site. I am in a market to buy a Breitling watch for my fiance for his wedding gift (I am looking for a entry level Breitling - I am on a strict budget of less than $3K. I just want to get your recommendation: I found a yr 2000+ Breitling Colt (quartz) with a white face and bracelet- cert pre-owned at a Tourneau store. The store is currently listing it for $1,900. It comes with the Tourneau (2 year warranty) and if I want to buy their buckle to buckle (xtra warranty) of course I have to pay more. * My question: is it worth it to buy additional insurance that will cover polishing as well as buckle to buckle warranty for either 2 or 3 yrs? *Is this a good deal? Or should I buy my fiance the new Colt that is now being released? Any other reputable sites where I can find a good deal on a Colt or any other model within my 3K budget? I appreciate your honest opinions..Thanks |

No, no, no and dont know. Buy a breitling steelfish for him. Its not entry level but its not high end either. Pretty sure he ll love it. Its a iconic breitling, its a automatic but not sure if it will fall into you 3k budget as a new one. Try buy in a breitling main dealer if you can at all for warranty and peace of mind. Good luck with it. Breanach78 |

Thanks Breanach78 for your recommendation. I just called our local Tourneau store to inquire about the Steelfish.. For a new SuperOcean Steelfish- with the stainless bracelet- is around $3500.00 + not including tax and xtra warranty. Unfortunately at this point I can only afford a Colt ![]() |

You can afford more than a Colt, you just can't afford to shop at Tourneau! There are two US based sponsor ADs at the site, PM jnelson3097 for contact details of Govbergs in PA or FEAR for Provident in FL. They can let you know what they have that will fall within your budget and will look after you much better than Tourneau. |

If you're looking preowned, there's a lot more room for you, too. For example, there are used models of the new super ocean 42's floating around for less than $2k. Most importantly, do you know which models he likes? Do you have an idea about which size watch he would like (or his wrist size)? There's such a wide variety of Breitlings that it would be tough for my wife to pick one out for me. As people have mentioned, the Steelfish is an icon so if you can get a gently used one you would be in great shape. Anyway, this is a great present no matter what you do. Congratulations! |

You can probably find a Steelfish on your budget... definitely on your budget, it's locating one that might be a little harder. I bought my first Breitling on a budget and what I did was go to the Breitling website and contact many dealers across the country to see who wanted to talk deal. If I was looking for a new Steelfish it's exactly what I would be doing. |

Quote: You can afford more than a Colt, you just can't afford to shop at Tourneau! ![]() Lots of pre-owned Steelfish, or even Chronomats/Navitimers, within your budget if you shop around. Congrats on the wedding btw! |

As has been said...you do have some options here. Calling the earlier suggested AD's will be your best bet on getting an idea of whats available. Good Luck with the search and congrats on the nuptials |
