I got into Breitling this time last year when I spotted the Super Avenger watch on a friend and fell in love with it straight away.
I like to buy watches to mark special occassions or milestones in my life and I was planning to purchase the Super Avenger this summer to mark my 30th.

I regret not pulling the trigger on it at the time now because iirc the price was about £3,400 on the bracelet last year.
I went shopping today with my wife today and was shocked to see that price has gone up to £4,620!

Can anyone tell me if a 2011 Super Avenger is any different to a 2009-2010 Super Avenger?
I mean have there been any improvements to justify such a big increase in price? I've read that Breitling are now doing in-house movements, does the 2011 Super Avengers have in-house movement?

If the watch is exactly the same with no changes or improvements made to it, then I don't think I'd be happy spending £1,200 than I should have, so I'll probably look to getting a used model instead.

to my knowledge there is no difference between 2010 and 2011. as for the inhouse movements, i think most will agree that we wont be seeing that in the SA anytime soon.

BTW welcome to bsource

The watches are the exactly the same. Relative currency values and the burgeoning Asian market for Swiss watches have resulted in multiple price increases/year over the last year and one half for Breitling and many other Swiss brands. The N.A. and EU markets aren't nearly as compelling to the industry as they once were. I miss the days we were enabled.

Don't forget UK prices already include the tax, you still have to add them for Canadian prices. Oh yeah - and import duty when you go back!

You're comparing currency with currency. The watch (cars, etc.) price is based on the market for that country/area.
While £4,620 may be the market price in the UK it doesn't equate to market price in the US, CAN, EU, etc..
If the market was equal, pricing would look like this.
4,620.00 GBP = 7,288.89 CAD
4,620.00 GBP = 7,396.63 USD
4,620.00 GBP = 5,293.81 EUR

I'm sorry to say but the Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar and has been for the past 11 months . Your conversions are currently out of date . No disrespect intended.

You are correct, $1.00 CAD = $1.01584 USD (at time of this post) making it a bit more valuable when comparing to each other. When comparing to the British Pound the difference more than doubles to a $.03 cent difference.
Which is the reason the watch in Canada is "cheaper" than in the US. (The CAD has more value than the USD compared to the British Pound).
1 British Pound = 1.57 CAD
1 British Pound = 1.60 USD

The UK SA's are WAY more special than those sold in other countries. They're all hand polished on young maiden's thighs by the Chancellor of the Exchequer himself using a glove made from the hide of an almost extinct animal, known by it's Latin name of "Fleecethebritishpublicus Rightroyally". That's why all watches (and just about everything else) costs so much more over here despite wages being comparable with somewhere like the States.
