Hi there all,

I have just joined Breitling Source after getting a Super Ocean Heritage chronograph as a wedding gift from my wife. The watch came with a beautiful mesh strap, I also have a black leather strap and a rubber strap. I have asked my local jeweller to change the strap a few times however I want the flexibility to change the strap as and when I want. I purchased a spring bar removal tool however it does not fit in the tiny access holes for the spring bars in the back of the mesh strap. I have asked my local jeweller to show me how to change it and to advise what tool I need but my response was along the lines of “your watch strap should only be change by a trained professional” – Anyone any experience of changing a mesh strap before.

On another note, what would you recommend I use to keep my watch clean, I have read cape cod cloths are good for taking out the scratches but I am meaning something for more every day cleaning/polishing.

Thanks for the reply - very interesting post. I have searched online but cannot find any where I can purchase Breitling tool 900.340. Any one any idea where I can track this down?

Just order Bergeon 6767F, available from many places for under $20.

You want a Bergeon 6767F which is the preferred bracelet and strap changing tool among almost the entire site. You don't need an full set of stuff, just the correct tool.

As others have already stated, the Bergeon 6767 will do the job for you, but make sure you order the
one with the fine end (F) as opposed to the larger standard end (S) which is better for removing leather, rubber straps.

Ideally get both alternatives so you're fully covered.

I change my mesh strap for a leather strap on a regular basis. A word of caution. When you push the spring bar in and out of the hole make sure you keep it depressed totally until it has cleared the lug. My experience is that it has to clear the lug on the top or visible side rather than the back side which would be preferable. I accidentally let it go and it kind of raised the stainless steel just a tad where it left the lug. Not really that noticable but still there. Its not really a scratch it is more like it pushed some metal upwards iof that makes any sense. Covering the lugs with tape would not have helped in this case but it is good practice to do it against scratches should the springbar realease by accident just after it leaves the lug. Now I just make sure I am super careful while removing the springbar.

Slightly off-topic, but I also got a SOH Chrono as a Birthday present! Our wives must be sisters :)

I have the blue dial and bezel one, which one did you get?
