Post subject: | Avenger Seawolf replacement? |
Salutations all, this is my first posting, I'm looking at buying a current new titanium Avenger Seawolf with the yellow face this week and I've been told that the model is to be discontinued by the retailer, should I snap this one up or is it worth holding on for the replacement and if so does anyone have any idea about it's spec/design (photo's even?) kind regards |

Hello, and welcome aboard. The replacement Seawolf is different from the current model in a couple of ways. Firstly, the new one is brushed steel as opposed to brushed titanium - obviously the steel will make it heavier than ti. Also the dial is different in terms of the hour markers, especially the primary markers at 12, 6 and 9 (date window is still at 3). The movement is the same (B17), as is the depth rating at 3000m. The yellow dial is available on the new model too. For pictures, do a search on this forum as there are a couple of pics of the yellow dial version on here on a different thread, but here is a link to pics of the black version - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... e_181.html |

Thanks for the information, so which model should I go for, old or new? Titanium seems more exotic than steel, would the new model be lower in price to reflect this and would you know if the dimensions are the same for both? Your expertise is appreciated! |

Titanium seems more exotic than steel, would the new model be lower in price to reflect this and would you know if the dimensions are the same for both? Your expertise is appreciated! The material you go for is very much a matter of personal choice. Personally I like steel as it's heavier, brighter and more scratch resistant than titanium as it's harder. If you look at a steel Breitling next to a titanium one, the ti model looks very dull. I've owned one ti Breitling in the past and just didn't get on with the lightweight feel. But then this is only my personal preference and I'm well known on here for not really liking titanium! You'll find a load of guys who swear by ti, so it's really up to you. I think the dimensions are the same, but as I said before, the steel will be much heavier - maybe a 1/3 as much again. If it was my cash I'd buy the new model as I also prefer the dial, but that's just me. At the end of the day you have to be totally 100% happy with your choice so all I can suggest is trying both models on (ideally side by side). |

Thanks, I have a steel Tag Heuer right now and I do like that "weight" also I prefer the more masculine numerals on the new model, any idea when the new model is out (in the UK)?, also I'm struggling to view a picture of it in yellow. |

You'll probably find it's available already in some AD's. I popped into mine a couple of weeks back and they were just starting to get the new 08 models in - they had a new SOHC and the new dial SA, but no steel Seawolf yet. Here is a link to the thread with the yellow dial (there's a search box at the top of this screen to help you find key words in posts) - http://www.breitlingsource.com/phpBB2/v ... ht=seawolf (BTW - As you're on the Breitling road now, we'll let you off the Tag..... just! ![]() ![]() |

Excellent, job done, I guess there was a reason for me holding off from buying the "old" model, I suppose now it was because I found the numerals a bit too tame, also from experience (with other marques) as a steel bracelet ages it gains a nice shine, something I doubt titaium would do. Had I gone ahead with buying the outgoing model this week I would have been disappointed upon seeing the new one, the forum works, thanks Driver8! |

Post subject: | Titanium Avenger Seawolf |
I think it is a great watch and I really like mine. The titanium has a look that appeals to me, and it is really light for it's size, making it an easy wearing watch. Mine has the black face and has an understated look. I have the Pro 1 titanium bracelet, which is slightly narrower at the clasp than at the lugs and has the diving extension in the clasp. The Pro 2 titanium bracelet is the same width at the clasp as at the lugs and does not have the diving extension in the clasp. The Pro 1 has slightly more flex, and on my wrist the Pro 1 is very slightly more comfortable than the Pro 2 for the titanium Avenger. Which Pro bracelet is more comfortable for you will depend on where you wear your watch on your wrist, how tight you fit the bracelet, etc.... I have seen a yellow faced titanium Seawolf on the black Breitling rubber band and it was a really nice combination. Actually every combination of the Titanium Seawolf face and bracelets look nice to me... |
