If they are going to release a new BB with the B01 do you think it would be worth waiting? when do you think Breitling would release it?

Your guess is as good as mine. There have been noises around it for sometime so may appear in the run up to Basel, may be 2 or 3 years away.

Is it worth it - well that has to be a personal choice - it won't be cheap based on where Breitling pricing is going and of course there is no guarantee that the design will stay true. The Chronomat B01 is a very different design from the Chronomat that came before it.

Thanks for the help I've made my mind up :-) I don't want to be waiting 2-3 years for a watch that I don't know I'll like when I love the current one and with just finding out as of Monday the BB I have held back is going up by 7.5% due to the price rises I'm getting it over the weekend. Thanks Again

Not to mention the list price will probably be pushing 10k. Maybe that's even a bit optimistic thinking it could be under.

So if I understand your question correctly, the decision is either to get a current Blackbird now, or wait for a new one? I second your decision to get the current one now. We have no idea what a new one will look like, how much it will cost, or even if it will actually come to exist. One thing that is almost a certainty is that if it ever does come out, it will be considerably more expensive than the newly discontinued model. Given Breitling's current style direction, there's also a good chance it will be wretched. Or perhaps by the time it comes out, maybe Breitling will have gotten a clue and started making nice Chronomat-style watches again. But why take that chance if you know you like the current one, and have an opportunity to get it? A lot of people already consider it a classic, and that opinion is only sure to be confirmed if the new one turns out to be a disappointment.

I have been told that the Chronomat "Flying Fish" is seen as the replacement for the Blackbird. As much as I like the Flying Fish, it's no replacement for the BB!! I hope we see a B01 BB eventually!

Told by whom? Was it someone in a position to know?

The Flying Fish is all brushed, the original BB was pretty much just a brushed Chronomat with an all black dial, but with the last model BB and the big date and compass bezel I don't think they can get away with calling the Flying Fish a Black Bird.

I don't think they would get away with it, but that doesn't mean Breitling wouldn't try it anyway. If I understand the rationale, it isn't that they're calling the FF a Blackbird. Rather, it's that the FF is the de facto replacement for the Blackbird. It seems like a pretty outlandish idea to me, but I wouldn't put anything past Breitling lately when it comes to questionable judgment. That's why I want to know the source of the information, and whether it's from someone who is in the know, or if it's just someone's baseless conjecture. I'm guessing the latter, but I'd still like to know.

I get what you're saying. I do like the FF though, pretty much the only B left that I want. I would actually probably sell my BB to get one but the prices for new Breitlings is a bit to high now.

Yes, someone with links to Breitling. Said person knew about the Chronomat GMT and the new Colt line, so I have reason to believe him. I'm hoping it's just a temporary replacement!
