It may some form of psychotic illness but are other members as fastidious with the appearance of their watch as I am? I have a feeling that at some point in the future my Breitling SA's will be considerably smaller due the constant buffing with my watch cloth.

After a sweaty day in the sun or a warm evening out on the town I just put it under the tap, put some Dettol handsoap on it, give it a good rub and presto, good as new.

Every time I take it off using my eyeglass rag. Takes 2 or 3 minutes and it is as good as new, minus the scratches of course.

And no, I don't think it's a psychotic illness. I don't know what's it's called though.

I tend to just clean them with soap and water when I feel they need it : I don't have a set routine.

That said, I usually give the watch I've been wearing all day a quick wipe over with a very soft cloth (especially the caseback and inside of the bracelet) just to stop the build-up of "wrist cheese" and keep it nice and clean before I put it in the winder. The good thing about doing that is that it means I don't have to wash them so often.

Wrist cheese? Really? That is just awful.

Good advice though... I say as I am gagging.

If you leave it long enough, then yes! I will just say mine never get like that, but I've seen a couple of truly hideous casebacks where all the engraving is full of some disgusting detritus. Image

Define Clean.

I wipe down a watch whenever I put it on with a micro-fiber (eye glass rag as Tomcat put it) and start with a moistened corner. Then the dry part of the cloth. I guess I don't see that as cleaning really.

A full bore clean? Not very often at all. If you simply spend a few seconds wiping down a watch when you put it on, cleaning with soaps and soft brushes etc.. becomes almost superfluous.

:yeahthat

I probably wipe my crystal and case down a dozen or so times a day. Nothing bothers me more than catching a glimpse of a print or smudge.
