Post subject:  Navitimer 01 VS Navitimer A23322

Hi,

This is also posted in another forum.

I currently own a standard (or what used to be a standard) Navitimer from 2008. I really like every aspect of it, with an exception of the lack of quick set future.

Since seeing picture of the new 01 the wheels in my head has start to turn. I can live with not having an inhouse movement - the thing that could be interesting would be the extra mm of diameter. Is there anyone who have tried both? Is there a significant difference in size and how much do you actually notice the extra mm?

Have anyone plans on upgrading to the new 01 and whats your resoning behind this? Do you think that the non inhouse Navitimers will be considered less of a Breitling in the future?

Best regards

Erik

if i am correct the standard navi is 41.8mm and the navi 01 43.00mm so it is bigger...

i've owned the standard navitimer and it is a great watch but when i saw the 01 i was shocked, it is so beautiful!!!!!
for me the raised logo makes it looks great and the red seconds pointer is really nice, but for most of the new owners i think that the open caseback and the in-house movement is the cherry on the cake.

overall, two fantastic watches :lingsrock:

Definitely a better watch in every respect, to me. But if you already have a standard Navi, I would say its not worth the $$$ to upgrade. You'd likely be spending twice the price of your regular Navi to get one.

Interestig topic. I have been considering taking my collection to the next level with two acquisitions in the next year and one of those is the Navi 01.

My current Navi is great an is probably my most worn and loved watch. In order to make the move I would most likely sell both my A23322 and my Chronomatic 24.

I am hoping to try one in during travels over Labor Day weekend, but some prior insight into the case differences, size, finish, and other would be really helpful.

The aspects I absolutely love are the gold wings logo, black date wheel, and increased size. The extra power reserve would also be really useful in a 3 watch rotation

That's the key point to me, as personally the in-house movement is the only reason I'd upgrade from the (now) classic Navi to the 01 version. If you're not bothered by the movement, then I'd save my cash. From trying it on, the 01 doesn't wear much larger, if at all IMO.

I would keep the Navi that you have and look to expand in a different direction to give you more choice. Not much point in buying a watch unless it really 'speaks' to you in my opinion, and it doesn't sound like that's where you are at. For the price of a Navi 01 less the funds that you would get for selling your current piece you could get a very nice additional piece (Breitling or otherwise).

:yeahthat

+ I'd personally like to wait a bit more time to see how the B01 performs

What does quick set mean? I hear this in regards to the World - what is a quick set date feature?

Maybe wrist sze is a factor, but the 01 wears much larger on me than the two regular Navis I had.

Also, OP are you referring to the 01 LE or the "new standard Navi" - 2011 Navi 01??

For me it's pretty much night and day both aesthetically and functionally.

You just need to decide HOW much you like the 01 and then make your call.

On the World (like most watches), you can pull the crown out to position 2 and spin it to the correct date. On models without quickset, you have to wind the time forward 24 hours to change each day...takes a long time.

Thank you all for a lot of useful feedback.

What I also need to figure out is if this is my usual "want the greatest and latest" issue which I suffer badly from. I flew with a Captain a few days ago that wore a 1990's Aerospace. He said that he got it from his wife and that he really cherries the watch. This is something that I really would like to feel about my watches, sort of "setteling down" with a watch that I like without the stress of wanting the next one, and the next, and the next...

I really need to see the 01 and compare it to mine - I guess I then need to form a decision.

BTW I am really impressed with this forum. Fantastic knowledge represented here and great genorosity in helpeing newbies like myself out. Thank you!

Erik

Although most have the option of going back and forth around midnight to avoid going all the way round the dial twice.

I tried on and seriously considered getting the Navi 01 LE. However I ended getting the A23322 with the Arabic numerals and saved me a few $$$. I didn't think difference in the size was that noticeable.
Of course the clear case back was nice and the red seconds hand. But ultimately I decided to just get the "regular" Navi. I put the money I saved towards a yellow dial emergency.
