hello everyone,

pulled the trigger and picked up the Blackbird at an AD in New York State. was able to get 15% off the old list price whithout much effort which saved me over 1k compared to back home in Canada with a lot of haggling.

love the watch, and special thanks to Oester for the advice.

not the greatest pic, but here it is!

one little detail i noticed is the 2nd digit of the big date complication is always slightly lower than the first digit. i've noticed this in other people's pics too. is this normal? i was also midly disappointed that the silver paint on the bakelike box is not consistant which i've also noticed in other people's pics.

The paint on the box will wear off in time, but its not really a big deal. I think you will get over it quickly. My first Breitling I was very citical of these things and they stopped bothering me after i bought my 4th or 5th one :D

The Date is a bit higher but that's just the way the mechanism is designed.. I believe the Glashutte Original Panodate is one of the only big date mechanisms that has a perfectly level big date.

Great choice, it really is a stunning watch. I had my heart set on a Chronomat Evo with a graphite dial as my next purchase, but I tried on a Blackbird at an AD last weekend and am now leaning toward that.

I really like the blackbird as well--and I like the look of the bracelet more than the Pilot bracelet.
