for the last little while i was starting to really resent Breitling. The changes they were making to the lineup, the unavoidable price increases and just the overall direction of the company were just plain driving me nuts. It got so bad that I wanted to sell my 2 Breitling's and move the money over to other brands.

Over the last few weeks I think that I am starting to like my watches more and more for what they are. the thought of disassociating myself with the brand are gone.

In conclusion i might not love the direction the company is heading in, but i do like what i own.

I said in another thread, I don't hate Breitling - I just really dislike what they've become. There was a time, however, when Breitling made some great watches, and those watches are still great. It seems to me forsaking watches you actually like because you don't like what the brand represents now is making some kind statement that really won't make a difference. Breitling will only get the message if we refuse to buy what they currently put out. You can do that whether you keep your older Lings or not. I'm one of the most vocal opponents of the current Breitling lineup, and yet two of the watches on my current wish list are early 2000s Windriders. If you like them, I say wear your older Lings with pride. They show you know what was good about the brand.

If you like some of the new models, that's great. Honestly, I don't, with the exception of the Navi 01. Otherwise, not only does the new lineup do nothing for me, but Breitling has discontinued or completely redesigned every model that used to make me like the brand. I'm not trying to be melodramatic or gratuitously negative - it's just a fact. When I look back at the stuff they used to make that really got my juices flowing, it bums me out.

Whether you like the new Breitling lining or not is just a matter of personal taste and/or choice.

But selling the Breitlings currently in your possession because you dislike/hate the new lining, it's beyond me. :? :huh What's the point of doing so? "Punish" Breitling? Or make your (future) buyers happy that they get a discontinued "real" Breitling?

If I can make a parallel (even if Roff may pin me for that), when BMW clients were disappointed with the E60 5 series, they didn't sell their E39 5 series because they were disgusted, rather they just kept preciously their E39 until the E60 was phased out and the F10/F11 5 series came out.

That's exactly what I'm planning to do with Breitling. There are, however, one or two that appeal to me, like the Navi 01 or the new Aerospace auto.

Modifying what FEAR said to fit my view/taste, I used to like MUCH MORE of the Breitling lineup than I do now. Presently there are only 2 pieces in the entire lineup I would own and I already have one of them.

And like boogiebot said, I had the urge to dump all my Lings. A petulent protest period that has passed. If anything, the ones I have mean more to me now as they represent the end of a design era. And perhaps the end of any affinity I may have in the future for Breitling.

None of this is to imply the new "direction" by Breitling and those who like it are wrong - just very, very wrong from my perspective.

i love my lings... and they are history already...

for one part of me i prefer the ugly lineup avoiding to fall in love for more watches... saving me money

for the other part...i still didnt forget when the blackbird was announced and i saw it for the first time back in 2007/2008 i knew from that moment i had to have that watch... i miss that feeling for a breitling, that obession for a model
Since i stared at a window of an AD whit new lineup and it didnt nothing to me... i kept looking for the older models in the corner of the window
that made me feel sad for what breitling became... and for that i tried something different and bought this month... a new omega PO XL

if the new lineup had something beautifull/new/fresh whitout the buck rogers bezels, the fake lume look pearls , too fancy colors, excess bling look or blacksteel fever ... i probably would not bought the omega

It is, except I'm not a Navi man at heart. I can appreciate them, but the Navitimer is not what got me into the brand. The Windriders were, and even though I can appreciate certain aspects of the Chronomat 01, that range is a shell of what it once was, at least to me.

The Chronomat B01 (as it was at the time) was probably the first really polarising watch. So much hype about the new in house movement and then it only appears in a very non traditional watch. There were a lot of 'animated discussion' threads on that watch at the time. Prior to that the SOH range was non traditional and certainly caused a little bit of a knee jerk reaction but was generally accepted pretty quickly.

The real step up in concern has happened over the last 12 months or so as it became clearer that a) the new model design cues were extending to additional models and b) the traditional ranges were being discontinued.
