Hi All,

This was not a watch that was on my radar. However, after borrowing one for a week I now consider it to be a fantastic and under-rated timepiece.

Under rated is right. Why isn't the Skyracer more of a favourite among Breitling owners?

Great write and nice watch!

The sunburst dial caught my eye when I saw this watch at an AD. I love the sub-dial with the hour and minute hand.

I've seen so many good qualities on different models... I'd like to pick and choose my favorites and add them to 1 watch and create my own, as it is my current opinion that Breitling is missing the mark in women's watch design...

The Skyracer (the original, not the Raven) is a stunning watch. Historically it was never as popular as some of the other models primarily because of the price : it was always a fair bit dearer than a number of others that offered similar functions. However, nowadays it would be good value given the prices of everything else in the Breitling range. It's another great piece that Breilting has lamentably discontinued.

I agree that it was not a great bargain originally, although the price could be justified.

However, Andrew Michaels Jewellers have a reasonable size stock of these discontinued models that they can sell at 35% off retail which equates to £3200. Compared to everything else in Breitling's current catalogue that does represent a bargain.

If you don't mind second hand the one I was leant can be bought with a full valet and one year warranty for £2700.

The central second chrono hand is the best feature about this watch. It's much easier to use than the tiny sub-dial on most chronographs. Especially as one gets into his 30s. Lol.

Is this the same movement that's in the mark vi?

The movement in the Skyracer is a Calibre 27 and the Mark VI is a 26B. The only difference being that the Skyracer has a 12 hour and 60 minute totaliser at 9 O'clock. The Mark VI just has a 12 hour one.

Is there a reason behind having two 60 minute totalizers?
