All,
I've read this board now for the better part of half a year, and I've always been impressed with the membership and their knowledge and ability to "play well with others." I've got a question for you all regarding a recent purchase.

In May I purchased a code yellow from one of the well regarded and represented AD's here on the board. The very first day I wore it not long after I put it on I noticed what I would describe as a smudge on the inside of the crystal. About an hour later the smudge was more apparent and a fog had developed on the inside as well. Long story short the watch went back to BUSA early June and I just received it yesterday.

All was great until I ran the chrono function last night. The hand will only sweep if the watch is held vertically, similar to how it would be oriented on your wrist if you were checking the time. Hold the watch flat as it would be in the palm of your hand and it stops. Raise it vertically again and it will continue. Further, the hand stops dead at about 57 seconds and won't go further.

Now, on the receipt from BUSA it says a full service was performed as well as some gasket replacement and pressure test etc. Am I missing something in how I'm using the watch?

I'm pretty upset about this. It took me the better part of 4 months to settle on a model I wanted and then awhile to actually find a new code yellow as Breitling has no more. Am I out of line asking the AD for a refund? Obviously if it wasn't a limited edition I think just replacing it with a different watch of the same model would be fine, but under the circumstances I'm feeling a little bit trapped here.

Thanks in advance

I'm really not sure about your rights in terms of asking for a refund. You can certainly try but I'm not sure if they will be legally obliged to give you a refund. One of our resident legal guys will no doubt have better knowledge on this.

Personally I'd go back to BUSA because they've obviously done something wrong and not fixed it properly. This seems to be becoming something of a trend with BUSA these days......

I suspect that it's an easy fix - most likely the hand wasn't put on properly, but of course that doesn't excuse what has happened.

I suspect that BUSA will say no to a refund, but if you used a forum AD then it's certainly worth a chat with them and see what they have to say.

Hold it vertically :cheer:

did you ask the ad? breitling has no control over a refund, but the dealer should be able to get it fixe for you, but you need to tell them.

My apologies Gentleman, shortly after posting that my hard drive crashed. Just now back up and running.

After continuing to wear the watch, I've calmed down a bit over the past few days. I think now I'd like to wear it for a few months, maybe until Christmas then send it in. Is there any reason I can't wait until then? The chrono isn't a function I would use often so it would be an out of sight out of mind sort of thing.

I have reached out to the AD, haven't heard back yet but I expect I would be early next week.

Thanks All

Personally I would want it checked out. It probably is simple, but if something is more seriously wrong then ignoring it won't make it better.

Hello,

I'm Agree with Roffensian, if thre is a problem with the watch, solve it today, asap. Don't wait until the watch will perhaps become unrepairable by Breitling or at a higher cost...

Best regards,

If BUSA did not repair it correctly get it back to them now not in a few months time when they could rightly say that it was a new problem.

Am I wrong in thinking though since I bought the watch new in May, wore it one day then sent it off immediately for warranty work then having just received it back just last week that it would still be under warranty? That was my point earlier I guess. Wear it for a few months, then send it in a warranty claim then?

It's still under warranty, but you paid good money for a watch that works properly - and you don't have that.

Yes, you're absolutely correct. As always gentlemen, thank you for your opinions and insight
