Post subject:  The end of a perfect day - with my Steelfish

A very good friend of mine took me out for dinner tonight, to celebrate his fantastic income tax refund. We were going to one of the higher end restaurants in Vancouver, and I felt that my Steelfish would rise to the occasion better than my Blacksteel. I have the Steelfish with black dial, and stainless bracelet. It is soon to be treated to a new Ocean Racer strap as well.
Having not worn the Steelfish for awhile, it was like putting on a new watch and appreciating it's attributes all over again. I felt like a million bucks with that on my wrist! Even with the brushed case and bracelet, it still has plently of the shiny appeal to it. At one point I was actually thinking of selling it, but now I know I must keep it. The Blacksteel is certainly my every day watch, it's so rugged and beautifully masculine - a real guy's watch. So is the Steelfish, with an added bit of dressiness to it. I would feel completely comfortable wearing it with a tux or suit (neither of which I own any more).
Anyway, for those of you who are ever thiking of getting a Steelfish, it is probably one of the most versatile watches that Breitling makes, with a decent price as well.
Just as a point of interest, my buddy who took me for dinner is not a watch lover by any means. He really doesn't realize when I am wearing the Steefish or when I am wearing the Blacksteel. He is one of my oldest and dearest friends (we have known each other since 1975 - 33 years), and he thinks I am obviously quite insane with my love of watches, as do all of my friends and family. That is why this forum is so popular with me. You guys are the only ones I know, who can even remotely relate to my passions, likes and dislikes about fine timepieces.
Just thought I would share that bit of my day with all of you.
Cheers,
Carl

Yes, you're right of course. This forum is a sane place to be in a mad world.

The word, used yesterday by my family to describe my watch appreciation, was "obsessed". I only have 3 'lings so far - 1 bought 4 yrs ago and 2 so far this year - they have no idea!

Glad you got so much joy from your Steelfish - brilliant!

ONLY THE GUYS ON THIS FORUM ARE THE SANE ONES....!

Great thread and I agree that most people just don't understand why we are so crazy about watches. Last night my wife and I went out for a very nice dinner to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary. We went with one other couple who are very good friends. He to is a big watch nut but goes for quanity of watches. I still am trying to swing his thinking to a very nice small collection of 'grails'. I can't get him to bite on a Breitling yet, but I'm still on the case. He hates went we all hook up and my one son is along to (my son is 25 and also wears only Breitling), we really beat up on him about getting into the BIG BOY club. We will convince him one day and he will then understand. I love this forum and all your fellow members.

I also have the uncanny ability to justify just about anything if I want it badly enough! If I wanted a new watch badly enough, and it would bring me down to my last nickel, I would likely get it.
Cheers,
Carl

I knew you couldn't ignore that Steelfish for very long Carl. As proud as you are of the Blacksteel, these Steelfish watches never stop impressing.

Hi Cbax32,
Believe me, you won't be able to stop looking at it! I really have never seen a watch with more of a sparkle in the dial. To me, Breitling has done an outstanding job with keeping the top of the case, bezel and bracelet brushed stainless. The sides - both case and bezel - are polished. I think if the whole thing was polished it would take away from the dial too much. It is a very class act, and I would never hesitate to wear it on any occasion. Can't wait to hear your reaction when you receiver yours!
By the way, I am waiting for my Ocean Racer strap - that is 6 weeks and counting, just for the strap! Well, I shouldn't complain - I do have the watch after all!
Cheers,
Carl
