Post subject: | 1st Breitling - Navitimer or Navitimer World |
I'm looking to buy my first Breitling in the next few days and I'm having trouble deciding between a Navitimer and Navi World. I want to get the white face (Navitimer) or silver face (Navitimer World) with a croc deployant strap. Which would people recommend between the two? Also how much more does it cost for the croc deployant compared to the normal leather strap (non-deployant). Thanks! |

Although these two pieces share the same name, they're very different from a size perspective. The world is 46mm, while the standard Navi is 41.8mm, which wears significantly smaller. Also, the silver dialed World is going to wear even larger than 46mm because of the dial color. If you put a black and silver dial World next to one another, they don't appear to be the same size at all IMO. The standard Navi with the ETA based movement is being discontinued and replaced by the Navi 01 (in-house movement), so if you want the old one, you'd better hurry. The Navi 01 is a little larger at 43mm, but it's going to cost you a couple thousand more than the World or standard Navi. Regarding the croc vs calf strap, there is a price list you can get to from the home page of this website. I believe there is about a $300ish premium on the croc. |

I just sold my navi for a world - blk face because I like the heavier look and feel to the world. Been considering this for quite some time. Although it is a very personal decision, I simply got tired of the "smaller" navi. Great nonetheless, I just wanted a larger watch. It's funny how at first they appear large, but once worn it for a week or so, they seem to optically shrink. I say look very closely at the world. good luck. |

My wrists are about 6 1/2" and I can say the World looks too big for me. I sometimes think my Navi 01 is getting smaller, as it looks small compared to my Chronomat 01, but it's not really fair to compare the two. I think a 44mm Navi would be the PERFECT size. Anyway, if your wrists are 7" or more, the World will probably look alright. I highly recommend going into an AD and trying them both on. That's really the only way to find out what one you feel more comfortable with. |

With the case size difference and the case depth, you really need to try them on. A standard Navi sounds small but the World is pretty big. My Heritage, at 43mm seemed just right and I love it, but with the case thickness I have come to the conclusion I wouldn't want it any larger. My wrist is 7 3/4. |

My 2010 price list shows a croc with SS deployant runs $720, while a standard calf leather with tang buckle was $185. Prices have increased this year but don't know how much on the straps/accessories. Big difference in the two options though! |

My concern would be that the World may seem too big over time. Maybe or maybe not. I love the look of the World. |

If you can pull off the larger world, do it! You will be kicking yourself a month later if not. |

Big difference in the two options though I have an inbound croco - tang buckle that I will use on one of my after-market deploys - and it's list is $590 + $50 premium since it's a short strap. So $640. Last croco/short/tang I bought a year ago was $550 list as I recall. Evidently the increases on the accesories has been higher than the watches. |

I am thinking of ordering a brown croco strap for my CSO. I already have my Breitling deployant so all I need is the strap without the buckle. Would it be the same price, $590? Regarding the Navi vs. the World, I echo everyone else's comments. At the end of the day it comes down to which size fits you better, which watch fits your budget and which one you simply like more. I have smaller wrists and I wanted a true classic so I went with the Navi and I absolutely love it. Good luck with your 1st Breitling purchase. You can't really go wrong with either. Make sure to share some pics with us once you get it! |

It would be less than 590. Not sure what Breitling charges for the tang buckle - IWC charges $125 for an equivilent one. I'm guessing more like 500, but someone here evidently has a price list. |
