Breitling...Hey...can you please crank out some more options finished like the Avenger? Polished Tool watches...they don't make a whole lotta sense to me. & sorta a conflict in design ethos, no? |

I just referenced the Avenger, bcs I noticed that it's got a brushed finish...not the only one, but one of the few brushed finishes that Breitling offers, yes? Tool watch...watches that serve a "professional" purpose rather than just tell time & look good for the wearer...typically built w/ daily wear in mind. So, diving timer for divers, dual time for pilots, sliderule for...engineers.  Actually a nice classic pulsemeter-graduated chrono would be an appropriate tool watch to serve up polished. |

Here is the Breitling Limited Edition Tool Watch sold exclusively at your local Home Depot. See guys...Breitling does make tool watches!!

This is the definition of a toll watch I agree with - ◦First and foremost they are designed to perform a specific duty and perform it well. ◦The design of the tool is defined by it's duty with minimal design influences being given over to styling features that add little or nothing to functionality. ◦Overall design is usually simple, specific and deliberate. ◦Overall build quality and construction is solid and well within the tolerances of the intended job. the tool is not over designed or so overbuilt that the added features and/or tolerances are essentially unusable for the overwhelming majority of uses. The Avenger is a polished Chronograph that I wouldn't clasify as a tool watch. I think you meant the Avenger Seawolf. Big difference there with the Avenger Seawolf certainly being a tool watch by these criteria.....and brushed. Now, the Navi has a sliderule, but in no way is a tool watch IMO. |

The avenger is a step up because it's polished and has a chronograph so I don't consider it a tool watch. |

According to the OP's definition of a tool watch....... Tool watch...watches that serve a "professional" purpose rather than just tell time & look good for the wearer...typically built w/ daily wear in mind. So, diving timer for divers, dual time for pilots, sliderule for...engineers. I'm not sure why some of those shouldn't be polished. Can an engineer not use a sliderule on a polished watch??? Not trying to be difficult, I just don't understand. |

I kind of with the OP on this, but instead wish Breitling offered more brushed finishes as an option sone models. Avenger Skyland and Chronomat to name a couple |

I relate the polished look to more dressy styles and prefer the toned down look of brushed pieces. Since Breitling tends to be more of sport/functional/instrument styled brand, more brushed pieces would be ideal IMO. |

OK - (1) polished finishes generally have more flash than brushed, but (2) a brushed watch can be more "flashy" than a polished watch depending on size and style. A pre-2010 Superocean was all polished but never struck me as having and ounce of flash. My CSO has a bit of flash. My Bentley GT Racing (brushed) or brushed Blackbird had more flash than the SO or CSO. Finish is just one factor. An important one, no doubt, but not the litmus test. Brush a Motors or SA and I'd bet they would still come across as flashy. |
