28th of june, Breitling threw a fantastic nigh in the aeronautical society in london showing off there new peaces and also going over the new "made by breitling" ethos. the outcome:

No more navitimer, aeromarine, professional and windrider ranges. EDIT its now legend, unique, extreme, power, first class, escape, explore, invent, heritage and professional... basically they are placing only a few models in each range to make it easeyer for the consumer to know what range they are buying into.

No more emergency for around 3 years while they test the new "top secret" emergency, its rumoured that it will have a constant aeronautical tracker instead of a twist and pull emergency trigger.

new chronomat's will be called the 41 (amazing), 44 and 47 (the gmt), this all ofcorce relates to the size. also they have announced that from now on anything with chronomat in the name will have a in-house movement.

5 year plan - by 2016 they want to be completely in house, they are working on 2 more variations of the 01 for 2012 and then 1 more every year after that. also interesting enough the reason why the 04 is called the 04 is despite the fact that its the 2nd in-house movement breitling have made its actually the 4th movement idea they had in mind SO WHAT IS 02 AND 03??? i guess we will find out soon....

the colt has been discontinued! wel... for now, they are aiming to re release it in October.

B4B have released there new barnato range, the racing version with a exhibition case back and awesome bentley wheel rotor design.

After all this we were wined and dined and given a goodey bag full of treats! very cool night WELL DONE BREITLING!

very cool info thanks for sharing. i like the idea that they are going to really push their movements. i just want to see what direction they eventually end up taking with newer designs.

I heard everybody else got the Breitling sonic cleaner, too. They didn't give you one?

But seriously...very insightful; thanks for the info. I was aware they were changing their ranges, but this is the first I've heard of what they are to be. If the designs did a thing for me, I'd actually be excited, although also a bit trepidatious about the effect their direction will have on prices.

Thanks for update!

I like the idea of the different size Chronomats, since this is a big seller, to go all in-house first makes sense.

Interesting to see what models the 02 and 03 (?) movements will go into, glad to hear we will see next year in all probability.

Also glad to hear the Colt will be back :D .

All in all, sounds like they do have a plan and are moving forward (with the in-house movement).

A lot of that was out there anyway, but really interesting that the movements will be rationalised - if we get two next year (say 02 and 03) and then one a year to be completely in house by 2016 then it's 05 in 2013, 06 in 2014, etc and by 2016 we are at 08 and done.

That leaves some obvious gaps - quartz, perpetual / semi-perpetual??????

They gave a hint as to the release of a 3 hand movement, but who knows if it's going to be next... The way I'm looking at it is the 04 is there 4th idea and 01 was there first how would YOU set out the movement plan, my opinion:

1) Chrono (because that is what breitling do best)
2) 3 hand and date
3) gmt 3 hands and dat
4) gmt Chrono
5) big date Chrono
6) split second Chrono!!!
7) power reserve?
8 ) moon phase?/ calendar? Mmmmmmm

I also forgot to mention then new displays! It's going to be dark grey with yellow accents and new grey blocks with the model name written underneath

And that surprises you?

Breitling's website seems to be updated in geological time. Regular Navitimer is discontinued and replaced by Navitimer 01.

Interesting they separated the Avengers from the SOs, and the Montbrillants from the Navis.

Hmmm, are you sure about that? I think the product ranges are - Navitimer, Chronomat, SuperOcean, Avenger, Transocean, Galactic, SuperOcean Heritage, Chronomatic, Montbrillant, Professional.

That would certainly be simpler - have the ranges named after the models themselves. But what, then, are the words to the right in each row, e.g., "Legend" in the Navitimer range? Are they just hyped descriptions of the ranges?
