Hi, I am looking to change insurance company for my watches and my wife's jewellery. They are however asking for a valuation of the watches to accept me as a client, and it doesn't seem as if they accept the receipts from when they were purchased.

Does anyone recommend anywhere where I can get a valuation done? Would a friendly AD help out? Valuations must be from a UK source as well under their T&C's.

It's been discussed a few times. If you insure for replacement value then a current pricelist should be sufficient.

Thanks for that. Will try the uk AD that I bought wifey's starliner from. Hopefully they will not charge because of that purchase and will value my pieces which were bought overseas as well!

Did try the pricelist with the insurers but they are insisting on an official valuation.

Would try elsewhere but their quote was very very good.

You will need a personal articles policy through your insurance company. Its cheap and insures against damage, theft etc. What they will insist on is a appraisal of each item you weant to insure. The appraisal on newer items usually is much more than what you paid for it.
