Curious as to how much prices are based upon the "sheet" and not speculation...

SA?

Aerospace?

Chornospace?

Seawolf?

etc...

Thanks in advance...

as long as it's not 'too bad' I can sleep easy.

What is that over the last four years? 40%?

Boolarks!

So how much was the increase? If you are saying on average that it is less than a couple hundres dollars, then I am assuming that the increase is LESS than 5%. Is that true? I thought I had heard it was going to be between 8-11%.

from what i can tell, they increased less on most of the newer models, and for once they didnt raise some of the older models, and left lots of accessories the same

How can they justify a price increase on older models, some of which maybe even already been produced Geoff?

I know a lot of people are very annoyed/ disconcerted by the price increase. I think consumers always want more for less, and I'm not different but if you look at goods and services historically they almost always go up. This is especially true of LUXURY items. With the rising cost of food and energy and a high unemployment rate in the US and debt issues here and abroad the world economy is the way it always is from a non financial expert (Me). F**ked up. With that being said the price of watches always go up and if you're going to buy a say, a chronomat 01 and it was 7500 a couple years ago and now it's 8500 all that's going to do is wish you had bought it sooner rather than later. My dad always used to reminisce that a rolex submariner was 3k back in the 80s and he had wish he bought one back then because now they're what, more than 8k? Either way he went out and bought a chronomat B01 a year or so ago when they were called B01 and not just chronomat 01 and he paid full retail. He did it because he wanted the watch, he had the money and he wanted the convenience of buying from a store that was close to him The point I'm trying to make here is that economics aside, prices of watches always go up every year and if you were going to spend 8k on a watch then a 10 or even 15% increase isn't going to break your bank and make you walk away.
In fact knowing they go up in price makes you want to buy it sooner. How many posts have we seen on here of people wanting to snag that watch they went before the "big" price increase. It's funny how a consumer will rush to spend thousands of dollars just that much faster to save $500. Furthermore if you have breitling models that have gone up in the last few years significantly this could help increase (slightly) their resale value if you ever wanted to sell. If you bought say a used SA a few years ago for 2500, given their cost then both parties were probably happy.... and now they cost 5500 new, even though you have an "older" model because of the price increase it's likely you can sell the watch for what you paid for it or maybe for hundreds more. You sell it for 2800 and that person who buys it gets a good deal considering they're $5500 retail.
I digress though, the point is that if you want a luxury item and you have the money for it you're going to buy what you want. If you think that breitling is too expensive for the "value" or prestige of the brand and you want to spend the money on another type of watch then by all means, but price increases aren't going to make people stop buying watches. The wealthy will spend what they want on items if they can afford them. These price increases won't price serious watch buyers out of what they want if they're dead set, and able, to buy it.

Very easily. Breitling USA is a separate entity from the Swiss people. The dollar to the franc is down 30% from a year ago. Buss has to BUY the watches from the Swiss. So every time the Swiss sell a watch to buss as opposed to japan, it's like selling a $100 bill to busa for $80 when they can get japan to give them $100. this just equalized the money. It's currency exchange rate based. If buss has to pay more for the older model, so do the stores, so does the end consumer.

Btw iwc just went up over 10% across the board, Cartier goes up 10-15 July 1 and corum and b&r already had em. Rolex was 8% last month and let's not forget the year rolex went up like 30 in one year. It happens. Nothing we can do about it.
