Hello everyone, I am new to the forums so please excuse me if I am posting in the wrong section. I would like to buy my bf a Breitling for his birthday this year. Nothing flashy, something "entry level" that he can wear every day and will stay in my $2500-3000 budget (I just finished grad school and cant afford anything more). I will eventually go to a retailer to check the watches out in person, but I just wanted any advice from the people who would know best. So please, if you have an opinion or can point me in any direction I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much, Natalia |

My first Breitling was a black 46mm Superocean Heritage ![]() I think you can buy one new for less than 3000 USD. I did ![]() I sold it because I tought it was a bit to heavy and a bit to big... But that's personal ![]() However, the rubber Ocean Racer strap and deployment buckle is just FANTASTIC!! |

![]() Welcome to BreitlingSource ![]() I suggest the Breitling Steefish. It is discontinued but you might be able to still find some available and it satisfies your price range too. Also, the Steelfish is a huge favorite among all of us! Here's a pictured from spiderer (a member here) ![]() Breitling Colt Automatic is another good alternative ![]() And the SuperOcean II ![]() You can have all these models either with the steel bracelet, calf leather, croco, or rubber strap. Just depends what you're looking for. What size are you looking for? |

(yeah I COULD have phrased it differenty, but where's the fun in that?) |

Thanks for everyones input ![]() Size? I guess the bigger the better but I don't think it will really be a big factor. Is there a certain size you suggest? (I have no background with this stuff sorry ![]() |

If he has a normal sized wrist, 42-44 is about all you will find in your price range. The Steelfish pictuered above is 44, the others 41.5 and 42. If you can find a Steelfish, I beat he'd love it. If the has slender wrists, try the 40-42mm range. It may sound silly, but there is a big size diffence between a 42 and 44mm watch. |

I think the Steelfish, SO II, and SOH are all perfect options. They are the gateway Breitlings, so don't be surprised if his disposable cash starts to find its way to your local AD |

Another one for Steelfish....it comes with a black, blue or white dial....They all look great, but I prefer the black, followed closely by the white. |

Hey, Welcome to the Forum. Steelfish or SuperOcean Heritage for me. To help you figure out sizing, my wrists are a little over 6 1/2 inches around and i felt like the SuperOcean heritage (46mm) was too big while the SuperOcean Steelfish (44mm) was just right. It's all personal but i think a good rule for sizing is that if the lugs (the bit where the strap joins the watch) hang off the edge of your wrist, its too big. Good luck in the search! |
