Had the black dial version on my wrist today and must say I was very impressed. It wore bigger than 42 with plenty of wrist presence. The only dropped the lug width from 24 to 22mms which is nice and the outer edges of the lugs meet the case closer to it's edge which give the lugs a nice beefy look. The 22mm lug width is more common than 20 and thus better for most of us with spare Breitling straps laying around. It "seemed" every bit as heavy as the 46 which may mean Breitling added some weight to the caseback, but that could be my imagination and I'm to lazy today to look up the respective weights. But it certainly was heavier than I expected given the 42mm size. Also the SOHs have rather spartan dials and, in my mind, it works much better at 42mm than 46. All in all it was a lovely watch and one I would definitley consider owning, but the down side was the sticker was just north of $4K. Quite a bit IMO for an ETA based non-chono with a simple dial/bezel on an Ocean Classic mesh bracelet. Otherwise very well down by Breitling on this model. |

When you get over the lassitude, POST THE PICS! I tried the 46 on a couple of months ago and decided it was too bug. keen to see the 42. |

I am waiting to see one since the 42mm size would definitely be better for me. Anxious to see what the green bezel looks like. Originally thinking the black dial/green bezel or white dial/black bezel combos would be good options. I agree the 22mm lugs will enable more strap options for me also (seem to have accumulated a few). I would think the weight would be somewhere between the 38mm and 46mm at 68 and 109 grams respectively. I hope the thickness isn't any more than the 46 at 13.6mm. This could be a new sport/casual dress piece for me... like I really need one ![]() (I'm sure it will be months before the ADs around me get any in). |

Yeah the 42 mm is finally the perfect size for most - IMHO only. A very nice touch for the SOH series is that every diameter has a bit different dial layout - seconds at 6 or from the center, date at 3 or 6. It would be wonderful to see the ETA-Valjoux 7750 chrono SOH in a 42 mm case and the nice touch would be the re-introducing the day-date window combo at 3 - as the CSO has unfortunately lost the weekday feature. A blackeye blue dial day-date SOHC would follow me home soon... Best, Robert |
