Hey, I went to buy a black calf strap (22:20 for chronomat) with tang in my AD and was told it would cost €200 (circa $290). I was expecting the strap to be about €125 (circa $180).

Have straps gone up alot in price? Thanks in advance for help!

PS. I live in Ireland

You should be able to get it for around/under 125E. If you have a good relationship with your AD they may give it at a reduced price. Other wise check out trusted sellers on the Bay, be ware of fakes, or search the sales forum here.

Hey breanach! I don't really have a relationship with any AD as such. At least not one where I would think they will give me a reduction. I'll keep an eye out for one but have only found a demo model in an AD showing some wear which they will sell for cheaper circa €130-€140 based on the fact they want €200 for a new one. As i said, I thought i'd get a new one for €125ish!

That's a weird price that they were quoting - too expensive for calf and too cheap for croc. I suspect that they may have made a mistake there, even factoring in the tang which is only about $25.

Thanks everyone- it is crazy that andrew michaels (another authorised AD) can sell them for £125 (€140) and I'm being quoted €200. I'm going to call my AD tomorrow and make a complaint.

Thank you for the info CGS.

The dealers have a fixed list price and are not supposed to sell for anything above that amount. Sounds like your AD is trying to stick it to you.

When I went to buy a DPII strap in February I was quoted £110 for the black leather on tang at Ernest Jones.

Got into AD today- was told again its €200 for a calf leather strap. I quoted the fact that Andrew Michaels sell them for £125 (or £130 when I rang!) and in fairness they rang up their suppier right then and there to clarify the price- they came back with £170 or €190. My AD said maybe Andrew Michaels have old stock. I got a demo one (95% condition) anyway for good price all considered so I'm happy but still confused and concerned about these discrepancies.

Now I'm also considering a proII rubber strap! Looked and felt really nice but unsure about it on a chronomat!
