Hey guys,

This is my first post and i'd like to thank you all. I've been reading through this forum and its been very helpful for me to make my watch selection.

Shopping for a Breitling has been a chronic addiction for me. I've been obsessed and im glad i finally was able to pull the pin.

There is a Breitling AD across the street from my office that has been drawing me in for some time now. I found picking a watch so hard since the whole collection drowns in its own beauty. Every day i would fall in awe of a different model.

I finally settled on the Skyland and am amazed by it. In the watch store was one thing, but once i got it home, and not distracted by all the other models screaming my name (damn Bentley), i cant help but perv out on this fine piece of craftsmanship.

Cheers,

Rob

Congratulations! A wonderful choice!
I was at my AD this afternoon, just taking a look. As I arrived, there was a guy picking up a new Skyland with blue dial and stainless bracelet. The guy who was selling it to him, had a Skyland himself, with grey dial and stainless bracelet. I have a Blacksteel, which I was wearing, so we all had a great time comparing each others' Skylands. I have to say that, regardless of price, I think the Skyland is the best of all the Breitling models. After owning my Blacksteel for 3 months, I still love it, but when I see a Skyland stainless and polished, I always admire it just as much. I have yet to see a Skyland with Ocean Racer strap, but I have seen the pictures and have to say it looks amazing. If I hadn't got my Blacksteel, that is definitely what I would get, with the black dial. The Skyland looks good in any dial. I still say that it is probably the most applealing of any men's watch, and that includes all makes and models. It has the same "wow" factor that my SuperOcean had in 1997 when I first saw it, and it was on my wrist every day for 10 years.
Anyway, I could ramble on and on even more about the virtues of the Skyland. Enjoy yours!
Cheers,
Carl

Hey carlhaluss,

Small world. That was me in the store :)

Nice to meet you and nice black steel!

My girlfriend nearly fell over when she saw what i was wearing on my wrist. I think it made her snow blind and jealous. She is scared that the skyland is going to get too much attention.

I was close to getting a chronomat with the silver dial. just beautiful, but i thought the skyland was a better balance of sporty-ness, military strength and class in one package.

Cheers,

Rob

Extremely small world! Time & Gold is a nice little place, no pressure from the sales people.

I was looking at that very blue dialed Skyland last weekend!

Wow thats crazy! I thought that the people at Time+Gold were first class all the way. No pressure and very knowledgeable. And in my case very patient. That store is way too close to my work. Such as distraction!

Hey Rob,
Great to talk to you again! Small world indeed! No wonder I thought I had seen that watch before! I thought about you many times after that, and was sure that you were glancing at your wrist the whole time!
I love Time & Gold. I think the fellow you dealt with is Eric, and Jacqueline is great too. There is another fellow, I believe his name is Michael, who has helped me most of the time. I cannot say enough about their service. Yes, it could always be that you may get a better "deal" elsewhere, but they really do have a wonderful reputation for service.
I bought my first Breitling - a Colt - in the early 90's, somewhere in Richmond Centre Mall - for $575. In 1997, the rubber strap had finally given out, and I went into Time & Gold to see if they could fit a stainless on it. The model was that old, that there wasn't a stainless for it. At that time, I was eyeing a SuperOcean in the case, which I ended up getting. I was able to trade in my Colt - for $900. - and paid the difference. So these watches actually can increase in value!
Anyway, I bought a Steelfish in early 2008, then traded my SuperOcean for the Blacksteel. I love the Blacksteel, and of course it is a Limited Edition which is part of the reason for the attraction. However, I keep seeing the regular Skyland with the polished stainless, and think maybe one day I will sell the Blacksteel and go for the stainless with a black dial. I think when I see it, I am reminded about my first SuperOcean.
Anyway, I am looking forward to getting my Ocean Racer strap for the Steelfish. The Steelfish is what is really keeping me from selling the Blacksteel, and it is also a great watch.
By the way, great photos! We were talking in the shop about photo skills, and you seem to be very capable. I really have to get off my ass and give it a try again.
By the way, they had a "his and her" set of quartz Colts in the display, which I though was kind of neat, speaking of your girlfriend.
Enjoy the Skyland!
Cheers,
Carl

This would have been hilarious if Carlhaluss' story was like "there was this other nerd in the store picking up a skyland that kept butting into the conversation I was having with the salesman..." lol..
