I am interested in an Aerospace model and have been looking over eBay postings at different models. I came across this model today and it's advertised as 18k white gold. What are some things to look out for when buying a used Aerospace? Do the quartz movements hold up well? I think most quartz movements hold up well. I own a comparable older model Aerospace in titanium. I haven't had any surprises. But I think it best not to link to ebay auctions you're interested in. That only serves to increase exposure, increase potential bidders, and increase the price. Nice looking watch. I think I may bid on it myself.

I think I may bid on it myself. Thanks for the input. I am not concerned about the link. It was an example only (of a beautiful watch I wish I could afford). Too expensive for a beater watch for me (what I am looking for). My main question was about the movement. I am not experienced with the Aerospace quartz line and basically want to be assured it will not "nickle and dime me." I understand about service costs but am more concerned about longevity. I have really started to appreciate the looks and function(s) of this watch. |

I have really started to appreciate the looks and function(s) of this watch. In terms of function, the Aerospace is not ideal in my opinion. Flipping between functions could be more user-friendly. A Casio's interface changing modes and illuminating the backlight is superior (pushing buttons v turning crown). Also, I wouldn't mind being able to read the date while in chrono mode (like you can with the Tag Chronotimer). Deeper water resistance would be nice. My local watchmaker recommended I not take my Aerospaces into the water since they don't have screw-down crowns. Other than that, the Aerospace is perfect. You should have no problems in terms of reliability. I would expect greater reliability than just about any automatic Breitling. Longevity should be good so long as the replacement battery continues to be manufactured. |
