Post subject: | Breitling straps and dials question |
Hi, I just picked up my first breitling, got a 30% discount on a new old-stock 09 SO on prof2 (didn't really fall for the current design), and I have some questions about accessories that I hope you could answer. I've seen an older thread refer to "short leather straps" available from breitling. Since I have a small, bony 6,5" wrist, I wondered if those are in production? Is there a guide regarding all official current leather colors offered? Lastly, dial changeups. Can these still be done when watches are sent to be serviced? I imagine I might want to exchange my black dial for a coral in a few years. |

Check the Breitling website configuration tool for the colours - short straps can be ordered through ADs and are 10mm shorter on each side. Many, many topics here on dial changes, cost is around $1,000 - $1,200 including the full service. |

He-he, I have 2 large Ziplock bags of Breitling short straps. At 6.5" you will certainly want a short strap. For a croco they are $50 extra and something less than that for a calf. Depending on the shape of your wrist, Breitling deployment claps may be out for you. They are simply too long and bulky for me. I get short tang buckle straps and use inexpensive bifold deployment claps. |

Thanks for the prompt replies! I noticed the configuration tool, but not all leather variants show up on each watch, despite supposedly having the correct width. I was rather looking for a list. Yep, was going for a tang buckle anyway, so that's fine. Just wondered if the short-strap option was some sort of myth since I've never seen one advertised. ![]() |

That's when they became my former AD. ![]() You aren't limited to the options shown on the configurator for any given model. All that matters is the lug width and your own preferences. Pretty much everything comes in 20, 22, or 24mm. The basics are brown, Gold(tan), black. The colors are all available too. Happy hunting. |

By the way, any thoughts on lizard straps on a superocean, would that be weird? |

Now that's sensible: charging $50 extra for a strap with less material. Gotta love Breitling. BTW, do they make short rubber straps, too? I'm still considering a DPII on deployant. With a 6.5 inch wrist, should I go short? |

No short rubber straps, unless you buy one with deployant, in which case it can be made to fit a super small wrist. |

This is very useful thread as I also have small size wrist and would like a short leather strap. I have asked the AD for a quote and will order one shortly. Shark, if its not too much too ask, could you post a picture with a short strap side-by-side with a normal length one ? And, finally, a bit dissapointed that, based on your comments, the deployment clasp might not be suitable for small wrists, as I considering buying one. I guess I have to try before. (Do the leather straps for deployment clasp come in short size - or does it even matter much ?) Thanks. |

oli_ro wrote: (Do the leather straps for deployment clasp come in short size - or does it even matter much ?) All leather straps come in the shorter lengths, it's the length and curve on the clasp (which is the same for all straps) that is the potential issue. |

"Many, many topics here on dial changes, cost is around $1,000 - $1,200 including the full service." $1,000 - $1,200 for dial change and service? Will they just do the dial change, Thanks. |

Will they just do the dial change, Thanks. As discussed in those many, many topics - no. You can't change a dial without removing the movement from the case and that results in a need for a service. |
