Can you help settle a friendly argument?

I just completed a private sale today, in which I took a Colt Chrono A73350 (dated 2002) in part exchange for another piece.

Before completing the deal I had a quick look at the description of the A73350 on the Breitling Models section on this site. http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... e_155.html

Chatting with a buddy after the deal, I mentioned that I'd just got a 'Colt Chrono SQ' in a deal.

"That's not a SuperQuartz watch, not from 2002" was his first argument. I assured him that the BS Site clearly stated that the A73350 is a SuperQuartz, but he thought I was mistaken.

Anyway, later this evening I sent him the link as above. In an admirable bit of back-pedalling, his new argument was "Though your Colt is Chronometer Certified. that's not really a SuperQuartz, because they are thermocompensated, and your A73350 is too early for that".

When pressed, he has now decided that the info on the BS page must be wrong, and shouldn't say 'SuperQuartz'.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there an early SuperQuartz, but not thermocompensated? Is the Breitling Source description incorrect? Or is he talking out of his backside?

Opinions welcome, but facts would be better! One of us is mistaken, and as he thinks he knows all there is to know about Breitlings, I'm really hoping it's him!

Cheers all...

It's a superquartz movement based on an ETA Thermoline (thermocompensated) base.

Breitling has essentially had three different 'generations' of quartz in the modern era, in chronological order:

1) Regular quartz, non COSC - up to the late 90s / 2000
2) Regular quartz, COSC - the same movements as 1) but with COSC certificates - a brief period around 2000
3) SuperQuartz, COSC - from early 2000s on and now every quartz model

The regular Colt had variants from all three of these, but the Colt Chrono never had a regular COSC variant and specifically 73350 has always been SQ, the 73 is for caliber 73 which is an SQ caliber.
