Post subject:  WOW!!! Breitling Movements.

For some reason I was always under the impression that Breitlings movements were subpar for their price range. The fact that they felt a little rough when winding, that they had no display backs, and that they were all modified ETAs just led me to believe that Breitling excelled on the outside, but not when it comes to movements.

Well I was certainly wrong, I was at my AD having my Chronomat polished and asked if I could see their workshop, I got to see the very friendly staff working on some Lings and was blows away by how beautiful the movements looked. Not Langes for sure but more striking than many other watch movements in this range. The Bentley movements were particularly well decorated and absolutely mesmerizing to look at. I have to say the brand rose another notch in my evaluation, the Bentley's do not seem so over priced anymore.

Now I find myself justifying that MOP Chronomat on black leather with an after market diamond bezel. Everytime I think im out

I had a new Rolex GMT IIc that lost 2-3 seconds a day. Sold it, not for that reason though.
I just bought a Super Ocean Chrono (slightly Preowned) and it gains 2 seconds a day for 1/3 of the price of the Rolex.
I've been impressed with the other Breitlings I've owned over the years as well..

Breitling movements are indeed decorated very nice... I agree. I haven't seen a whole bunch of them in a watchmakers area before though... that would be a cool thing to see!

Admin,

Speaking of movements, has it been determined yet whether or not the Bentley Motors 25B movement is in fact a Ling manufactured movement or is it manufactured by another company ?

As far as I know, the Caliber 25B is a Base ETA 2892 modified by Breitling to have a 30 seconds chronograph.

Admin,

So does that mean that "Base ETA 2892 " is manufactured by someone other than LING ?

Post subject:

Yeah, it means that ETA manufactures it. ETA is owned by Swatch Group.

Admin,

So with that in mind does LING make ANY of their own Movements? Such as the Mulliner Tourbillon or the one in the Mulliner Perpetual or Mark 6 complications 29 ? if your answer is that LING doesn't make any movements, then my email to you about how we really are wearing JunK is TRUE and it's time for the Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon !
