Hi - I recall reading somewhere that you can send your watch to Breitling and have it brushed....

Does anyone know how expensive that is? I could have sworn the answer was in the FAQ but I didnt see it...

Admittedly, I don't know what you mean by getting your watch "brushed." Do you mean polished?

I dont think they will brush your watch if it was originally polished. You can have an independent jeweler do it for you though. Expect to pay around $200.

I had contacted BUSA to see what they would charge me to brush, my then, Skyland. They told me that they would only reinstate the original finish and not alter a watch. That was about a year ago so I do not know what their current policy is on this subject. As previously said, I would give them a call. Hope this helps.

What I meant by brushed was "de-bling" it....i.e. make it less shiny.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen threads either here on on other Forums where people have paid to have it done. Might be worth chasing thru using the search function to see what you think of the quality of the job done. From memory $200 seemed about right.

You can tone a blingy watch down a lot by taking it off the bracelet and using a leather strap. I like the Skyland much better on either the rubber diver or the strap. have you tried that?

Yes just to echo the other comments, Breitling will not alter the original finish on their watches. (Hell, a mate of mine with a Chronomat 01 asked Breitling to swap the bezel to a brushed one when they started to offer them as an option, and BUK wouldn't even do that, even though they do a polished version with a brushed bezel as standard! The official line was, "If you want a model with a brushed bezel, you'll have to order one like that from new".

However, also as others have said, many decent high-end jewellers with watchmakers on site will often brush a watch for you for a reasonably small cost. The only thing is, you might find that Breitling will want to return your watch back to it's original condition at service time, or at the very least they probably won't refurbish the brushing on a watch that has been brushed by a third party. Just something to bear in mind.

I think BUSA might have loosened up a bit on this policy (altering the factory finish from polished to brushed). I had my AD check on the possiblity of ordering a completely brushed Super Avenger (over a year ago) and as long as I put down a non-refundable deposit, they would do it at no additional charge. Now changing a pre-owned watch from polished to brushed, might require a full service... but shouldn't be a problem. I would definitely check on it..

That's what I was wondering. I was toying with the idea of getting my CSO brushed by an independent jeweler. (I probably won't, but the mind wanders.) I wondered how BUSA would react. I would guess they won't refuse to service the watch itself, but getting the full case refurbishing as part of the servicing might be out. And that would really suck if they insisted on restoring the original finish, especially at my expense. Which raises an interesting question: if you send an independently refinished watch to BUSA for a full servicing, and they refuse to do the refurbishing of the case, will they charge less for the service?

I guess it'd just be a case of asking BUSA if they'd do it or not. There doesn't seem to be any standard global policy as, for example, I know that BUSA will swap out a polished B01 bezel for a brushed one on used watches, but BUK won't.

I think if you specify in writing (a note with the watch) that you don't want your brushed watch to be mirror polished at service time, they won't do it. Thats the understanding i get with BUK anyway.

So which model we talking about? Chrono or non-chrono?
