Hi folks

I'm lucky with my Steelfish, it gains about 1 second a day. I know when being COSC certified they test it in different orientations, and this made me wonder. Obviously when worn on the wrist, the watch goes through lots or random orientations and movements all through the day. But at night, when it's not being worn...?

I wondered what the experts here thought about how different fixed orientations affect the watch speed? Eg does one cause it to run faster, another slightly slower, one much slower?

The orientations I can think of are:

on its side crown down,
on it's side crown up,
flat on its back,
flat on its face.

Also do temperature changes affect the speed? Body temp is quite warm, does cooling down at night speed it up or slow it down?

Ultimately, I'm wondering if leaving it in the warmer lounge, or cooler bedroom, and in a particular orientation, might be used to slow down a slightly gaining watch, or speed up a slightly slow one, to help the average gain get closer to zero.

Oh, yes, I forgot, what if you wear the watch all night, how does that affect the overall time gain / loss compared to taking it off?

As a general rule eaving a watch on its back will cause it to run faster than on its side. Face down and crown down aren't generally recommended (scratching the AR or crown stem damage), although crown down is not really a practical concern these days.

Temperature will have some impact, but in a sealed watch the difference from room to room is not going to have any practical impact, neither is wearing it.
