So I was in Nassau last week and to my surprise there was a Breitling boutique right there a block after I got off the boat. Needless to say I got a bit excited and almost ran across the street leaving my confused wife in front of a jewelry store. Sorry, I don't have any pictures, but it's a pretty impressive store inventory wise. They had pretty much every current model, no new Basel models yet thankfully, but there were plenty of the classics that we all know and love. The Evo, Steelfish, SuperOcean and Colt series were well represented as well and all combos of the Blackbird were available but what I was really excited to finally see were the Navi 01 and the Transocean.

These two watches have been pretty much the only Breitlings that I've wanted for some time now so it really pains me to say that I absolutely hated both of them. First the Navi 01, I love DB but other than that I wasn't impressed with it at all. It looks so much nicer in pictures to me and even though I really don't like overly large watches it just felt very small on me. Maybe I'd like the white dial better but I'm not too sure. The Transocean felt the same way, and that is a white dial so I don't know. I was expecting a beautiful timepiece but it didn't say anything to me. It felt small and kinda cheap. I'm sure it's well made and it certainly isn't cheap, but that's what it felt like to me. My PO that I was wearing felt like a much nicer watch to me. The thing that disappointed me so much is that I absolutely loved both of these in the pictures I've seen, not just the promo pics either but the real word pics that people have posted also. This makes three Breitlings that I've really liked in pics and have been disappointed with in person, the Navi, the TO and the SOII. I did like the Chronomat 01 LE though, the brushed one with the red accents, that was a very sharp looking watch and I loved the brushed bracelet. The Avenger Code Yellow was also on display and is just as nice in person as I had hoped. All in all I was pretty impressed with the store, the selection and the staff who were very friendly. I wasn't trying to buy a watch so I didn't haggle prices or anything but they offered me the Chronomat 01 LE for $6800, I don't know what the price normally is but that didn't seem too bad with it on the bracelet and all. Either way it's a great place to check out a bunch of watches if you happen to be on vacation.

On a happier note I did get to check out some other great watches that I've been dying to get my hands on like the PAM 321, an IWC Portuguese 7 Day with the white and the black dials, a JLC Tides of Time EWA, a Beautiful Rolex DateJust II with the gray dial and purple Roman numerals, and one of my favorites, surprisingly, a UN Maxi Marine diver, the 45mm Titanium one. I also spent some time checking out a couple of Speedys which for some reason didn't feel too small. Each of these exceeded my expectations and made my decision of what to get next even harder, though the 7 Day and the Maxi Marine are currently in the lead with the Rolex right behind them.

The Maxi definitely has style, so much that I have wondered whether I would come to see it as almost trying too hard, and tire of it. The DJ2 really has my attention as well. I haven't been into a Rolex store in a long time; I thinking about swinging by tomorrow.
