Went to Chicago this past weekend and stopped at Tourneau (sp?), just to look. Got to talking to one their reps about Breitling, etc... Next thing I know she whips out "The Book" and says I can have it. Not bad at all! It is a very cool and HEAVY book.

A similar thing happened to me -

I was in an AD here in the UK, and I sneezed and as the AD didn't have any tissues he said, "Here's a copy of The Book to wipe your nose with". Then, just as I was about to leave I mentioned how I was now off to buy a door stop to prevent my kitchen door from blowing to in the wind, and a UK Breitling rep suddenly handed me another copy of The Book and said, "Here, use this old thing as a doorstop". Then just the other day I was walking down the road (here in the UK) minding my own business and suddenly a guy from Breitling UK runs out of a jewellers and says, "Please take this copy of The Book from me! PLEEEEASE!". I tried to run away, but he tripped me up and held me down until I accepted another copy of The Book from him. And only this weekend, I was hiking on the Southdowns (that's a place in the UK), and I dropped my hat on the ground, and lo and behold, a Breitling UK rep jumped up from behind a bush and thrust a copy of The Book into my hand, proving that they really do give out copies of The Book at the drop of a hat.

OK, so I'm kidding and I'm bitter! I live in the UK and we have to pay well over £100 for a copy of The Book here. No such thing as freebies. Could this possibly be yet another example of inequality between the UK and the US??

(Oh did I mention I live in the UK?)

PS: @Biz - many congrats on the freebie. Nice touch from BUSA : just a shame BUK doesn't do the same.

No kidding, the last time I was in there, they wouldn't give me the time of day.

Considering that it was Tourneau, I wouldnt be surprised if she thought it was the Chronologue. :geek:

Come to Australia. You get all that and we lost the Ashes.

 Hmmmm, good point!

But let's be honest, I'm convinced your Ashes loss is only a temporary situation ; normal Aussie service will undoubtedly be resumed next time. However, NOT being gifted multiple (or even one) copy of The Book is undoubtedly permanent..... for both of us.

She must of thought you were a secret shopper for Breitling. I've never found Tourneau to be friendly.

They are if you're in the market for a used car.

Their sales people are the worst kind of crooks, they smile at you while trying to rob you.
