Just got a voice mail from the AD. He said that BUSA is estimating to have my Navitimer ready in two weeks (so, 6 weeks total) :( The silver lining is that the work is under warranty and will be done at no cost. He also left me a reference # on the voice mail. My question: Can I use the reference # and call BUSA directly to get updates on the watch?

Yes, I believe that's what it is for.

Update: I called BUSA and left a message to inquire about the problem and status of the watch. An hour later, I got a call from my AD with the details (below). I guess they prefer to go through them on these things--oh well.

Apparently, there was a malfunction in the rotor system delivering power to the mainspring that caused the watch to intermittently stop. They are in the process of disassembling, replacing/fixing, and monitoring the watch now. I'm glad they figured out what was wrong and I guess I was just unlucky (the watch was bought less than six months ago). In any case, I can expect to have it back around my wrist in a few weeks and hopefully she'll be as good as new :)

Just curious: Anybody else who sent their watch in for service run into this problem too?

Joy! Joy! Joy! She's back around my wrist again :D

It's been an excruciating 6 weeks... Just glad it's fixed and hope to never go through that again. At least, I got a nice travel case and polishing cloth out of it.

According to the repair order they replaced a bunch of gaskets including 4 push-piece gasket 'O''s
