These wipes are amazing, when I hold up my watch I can clearly see the face of my watch reflecting on the braclet. I purchased it from the manufacturer's website. Most of the ebay listings were vastly overpriced for only a package of 2 wipes. Great heads up on the admin for recommending this wonderful product!

Just be careful since if you use it on metal, it will take fine amount of metal from the case/bracelet.

Just do it once in a while.

Is stainless steel considered a metal?

I just bought my first Ling yesterday... how often should I clean it / take it in to get professionally cleaned?

Cleaning the outside is rather up to you and your own personal standards.

Cleaning, or at least non-repair maintenance, is recommended every 2 years, less if you use the watch regularly at depth - Breitling like you to replace the gaskets to maintain the waterproof aspect of the watch.

I regularly manage depths of 5 or 6 centimeters , so I'll probably not be getting the gaskets changed more frequently than every 2 or 3 years...

If you're concerned about light scratching, remember that Breitling will polish (or brush, depending on the material) the watch for you before they send it back.

Yeah I dont plan on going into the water with it or anything like that. Im still new to the whole watch thing.. I probably shouldnt of bought a nice Breitling for my first watch but oh well =)

I just meant cleaning as in appearance wise. I dont want to ruin the watch by overcleaning it but I want it to look nice at all times!

So I should get some of those Cape Cod Cleaning wipes and not use them too often? And get it professionally cleaned only once a year or something?

There are those here who suggest cleaning daily - personally I find this a little excessive, but then who am I to judge?

I bought my Breitlings to wear, to use, and therefore there is a build up of crud, and yes, a quick brush with an old toothbrush and a little toothpaste (yes - it's a very mild abrasive and does recover the shine!) from time to time does help.

I wear my watches to do EVERYTHING - I didn't buy them to put on a shelf, and as such they do develop hairline scratches. But then, I know that they'll polish-out if it gets too much.

My latest 'passion' is Panerai, and I treat them the same way - they're not at all as 'bling' as a 'Ling, but I wear them - everyday (well, not all at once! I'm not Buddha...)

Go with what you feel best - if you're buying to preserve or re-sell, then obviously the cleaning becomes far more important - but if it's so important, consider putting them in a display case and simply dusting them from time to time!

I never even take my watches into the water with me... unless I am on Vacation, then there's nothing really I can do. But like Sportback was saying.. cleaning with a toothbrush works great.. but i dont use tootpaste... for bringing back the shine i use a Fabulustre cloth and just give it a quick rub.

I clean my watches every month or so.. sometimes less. I have a lot of them so they go into rotation. I don't like the accumulation of dead skin on my watches

What about to get professionally cleaned? How often should you do that?

If I'm not mistaken I believe you get a free checkup/maintence before the 2 years after purchase date. Can any second that?
