Post subject:  Glad I did it! - And now I'm still glad

About a month ago I decided to take a chance and sell my Blackbird and Super Avenger to basically combine what I liked about both into one watch, a Bentley 6.75. I contacted Justin on here, and he put me in touch with George at Govberg, but before I heard back I did the math and unfortunately I figured I was going to have to go gray market. I even contacted one of the big gray sellers to ask a few questions, but was kind of brought down by the situation because if this was going to be "the watch" I wanted it to be from an AD. I still had the task of selling my two watches, and really started to question if it was worth it... then the phone rang the next day and it was George. His price was within hundreds of the gray seller, and this was for the newer speed version. Once I heard the price I knew the game was back on and spent the last few weeks selling my watches.

So at least a month in the making my new black Bentley 6.75 speed arrived today after a short customs delay, and I couldn't be happier. To be honest I had very mixed feelings the day I shipped the BB, and took a deep breath before I opened the box, but it's perfect! :lingsrock: Every one of us is unique in what we want in a watch and for me this one nails it. If this ain't my cure it's damn close! :D

Pictures really don't do these justice.

Congrats man. Even though I can't understand why anyone would ever get rid of a BB I'm glad you got what you really wanted. One watch you love is better than two that you like.

Guys please tell me the crown is not suppose to screw in flush and this looks ok? I bought a new watch in Jan. with a crown issue right out of the box and I'll be very sick about this if it's a problem. I don't have a very good feeling, just doesn't look right. Any one?

That's exactly right, I'd rather the one.

I liked the BB a lot but would have preferred it just a little bigger.

After looking at another watch, my crown definitely does not go in as flush as it should and that makes two brand new watches in a row from ADs with problems. I'm not even mad this time, too f'in sick to be mad. I give up.

That sucks man, I hope it works out for you. Was the other one a Breitling also?

No, it was a Ball Spacemaster. It had a loose crown guard and they forced me to use the warranty. They picked up the tab for the return fedex trip to FL, but a new watch should be perfect (Right?), not needing to be repaired.

i think you are over reacting. your talking about a fraction of a mm. I'm sure everyone of us could pick apart our watches if we looked that closely.

A fraction of a mm? That's what you see? LOL I don't think so. On top of this the numbers on certain dates do not appear to line up perfect, and I am going from a Blackbird which did. So I am definitely not over reacting considering this watch retails for near 10k. If that's picking a watch apart, then perhaps my money would have been better spent on a Rolex.

My very first reaction to seeing the watch was to ask myself why is the crown pulled out, thinking it was odd, but it wasn't out. The fact I posted first before revisiting the issue clearly shows that I did not open the box determined to find something wrong, it was just the opposite, trying to tell myself everything is ok. But it is what it is, and what is expected of a new watch it is not. God I can't believe I have to deal with this again.

I used to have a BB as well and I like your Bentley a lot... I don't think you're over reacting at all and I hope your AD takes care of your crown problem quick!

:D

Thanks and I plan to chill on this whole thing right now. I still had a raw nerve from the last watch showing up with a problem, and the dealer more less telling me I was on my own. The crown looks bad and that is one thing, but if it risks the water resistance that's quite another because my watch budget is now at zero. All that being said I still love the watch and one way or the other it's a 6.75 I'll be wearing. :lingsrock:

If it's any consolation, George will fix it. Guaranteed. :lingsrock:
