I had my heart set on a white dial Steelfish with a SS bracelet but my AD will only sell the black dial on the bracelet and the white on brown leather (like they apear in the catalogue). Swapping the bracelet and strap would add another 700 USD

I do not dislike the watch on brown leather but was wondering if I wanted to get the bracelet later on. Would the bracelet cost me an arm and a leg like the Speed bracelet would or is it available for a decent price online?

I almost got the black dial but I have way too many black dial watches and no white dial ones at all.

Your dealer is at-it, find another dealer as you can order any watch with any strap/bracelet

wow i dont understand how a dealer would turn away a definite sale. i would get myself a new dealer. first of all the steelfish bracelet should cost you no more than 500 if that much. btw did the white dial brown strap cost less than the black with the bracelet? it the white dial with the strap was less and by about 300 or more buy that one and then buy the bracelet separate online. thatll save you a few bills

That sounds like your dealer has a strange view on customer relations... Find another one would be my advise too.

Ive seen people selling their original steelfish bracelets for 3-400 online. There isnt too much competition, since the steelfish is the only 22mm brushed proII in the line. The only other 22mm pro II, which are polished, are the skyland and the skyracer if my memory serves me right.

Holy Moly, you need a new AD. My AD took the bracelet OFF of the black dial Steelfish I bought and put it on a Pro Diver because, that is what I wanted. Now as you know I have since then got it back on a bracelet but at the time I even had it on the Ocean Racer and the black leather strap before deciding on my combination. I was also able to buy the bracelet 6 mo later for exactly the same amount if I would have bought it that day, with the watch.

New AD or slap your current one with a dose of reality of loosing a good customer. They are all priced separate in the book.

Scott

Seems odd to me too.. since each peices usually has it's own price tag, head, bracelet and strap and to get the MSRP they just add them all together usually.... and you spend your fair share of cash with your AD too Altair! For $300-350 you should be able to get a Pro II brushed on the secondary market... and you should be able to easily find someone that will sell you any strap/bracelet with it.

Sounds to me like they don't want your business badly enough. I would
certainly look around, find a dealer who is flexible. My AD would swap
any bracelet with any watch, or hold the watch with a small deposit (order the bracelet/strap) until the bracelet/strap I wanted came in.
There are a lot of good ADs out there.
I have the Steelfish with the black dial and SS bracelet. It's great, but the silver dial is a totally different look and looks a bit dressier. I have seen the silver and really like it too.
Cheers,
Carl

I should have said, this is not my regular AD, he was fresh out of white dial Steelfish (s?? )

I called them and said I would buy the watch, but would never buy the watch from them if someone else had it :?

At least the price was decent, just under authenticwatches .com prices.
