Hello Breitling fanatics,

I have bad news on the limited Skyland:

The black titanium nitrite is only a surface coating and can be removed.
Please neglect my former comment concerning the metal.

Best greetings
Thomas

So will black stay black?
Tried to phone Breitling but most people already left the office (4.45 pm).
I will try to get more info when I am back in Switzerland next week.

Have you ever tried to remove the coating from a TiNi drill bit? I don't think there will be much problem with this watch losing its coating.

I tried on the Skyland Avenger (non blacksteel) in St. Thomas.. that is a killer watch. I really liked it... seemed more reasonable in size than the Super Avenger.

Talked with Breitling at the HQ today and received the following info concerning the black Skyland:
- diamond like coating
- hardness of 5000 HV
- 1 um thick coating

It is a coating that is also used to harden surfaces on drills and tools.

Looks like we don't have to be afraid black will turn into metal.

Very nice.

Does it have a bracelet available for it as well?

There is no blacksteel bracelet, but the regular edition Avenger Skyland will fit the normal stainless bracelet. I suppose you could put the regular stainless bracelet on the Avenger Skyland too, but not sure if that would work well.

There are many companies out there that will TiNi coat your steel for you.. perhaps they would be willing to TiNi coat a bracelet? Not sure since there are so many gaps and stuff in the moving links... but if they could that would look great!!!
