Guys, I have heard rumor of a US price rise that is happening around May 1.

Can anyone confirm a) it hasn't happened yet b) how much the hike will affect something like a Skyracer

Without going into too many specifics, I am currently in the US and thinking about picking up a Ling, however until after May 1 i really only have access to AD's that probably won't discount much.

So I am kinda tossing up to go with one of these expensive AD's before May 1 or hold off until after when I can likely find a greater discount.

a) not yet

b) nobody knows, but anywhere from 10-20% is likely. I wish I could be more specific, but again, nobody really knows for sure.

My USA AD said a 15% price increase will go into effect May 1st on all Breitling watches and accessories.

One of my AD's said that the new President of Breitling was in their store a couple weeks back (AZ) and made two interesting statements.

First, that Breitling, towards the end of each year, has traditionally shipped their extra watches to U.S. markets but since the world demand has increased for Breitling's - the U.S. AD's should not expect to see as many watches available in the U.S market this year and into the future. Thus look for less discounting by U.S. AD's in the future.

Second, the price increases may, and I say may, be in the 15-20% range in May.

This resulted in a quote from this AD with less discounting on a couple of quotes I ask for....however, I was able to look to another AD and continue to get what I consider to be reasonable discounts.....so I picked up another SA - this one a white one and yellow Seawolf.....don't want to pay the higher prices and less extensive discounts.

If this conversation took place as I was told and I have no reason to believe it wasn't true - it does suggests higher prices and less aggressive discounting in the U.S. market in the coming year.

The positive side - I always try and look for one.....higher value for your inventory of Ling's....

Anyone hearing similar stories from their AD's? TC

Hey Admin, you definitely need to rectify your "no SA" situation before the 2008 model comes along!!

What your AD said was true. The new President of Breitling USA is Philippe Bonay. Philippe Bonay was the president of Panerai for the last six years and with them for nine years. He is a big believer in limited availability instills limited discounting. Worked at Panerai...

BTW, the price increase for Breitling USA will go into effect on May 5th.

I heard about that last year.. I wonder if it will have any effect on what comes out of Switzerland... perhaps he will have many limited production models made for the north american market.

Noooooooooooooooooooo, not more limited editions, my budget won't stand it.

I'm a purist, and a Navi with say a Manchester United emblem on the dial dilutes the brand. It may appeal to a small audience but they never hold their inflated value.

Have a range of watches, then add new ones, not re-hashed versions.

I think my ancestors trashed printing presses as the devils work, so I don't insist on my point of view.

Well guys, today I answered my own questions here is the info for anyone interested.

Being the stupid tourist, shortly after i posted and after some searching I infact found that a Feldmar's was right round the corner from where I was staying lol.

So I went down there... Ended up purchasing what I had been looking for - a Skyracer :D Was very happy with the service and off the bat they gave me a very nice discount. With the Aussie dollar the way it is, it turned out to be a very good deal for me.

In terms of the price hike the guy told me that from Thursday everything is going up by minimum 15 % (I asked about this after I had done the deal obviously :p ) So guys get in and get your 'ling's fast, they are going up in a hurry.

Thx for all the responses guys, what an awesome forum. (Altho it does make you want the ling all that more :p )
