Hi guys, I'm planning to get my first Breitling and I've decided to go for a Navitimer. Howerever, I am not sure which one to get. I'm thorn between the "classic" and the World. Please help me make up my mind. Thank you very much.

No one can make that decision other than you, go and try both on and see which looks best, the world is a very big watch, you may find it doesn't look right, in which case the decision will be made for you.
Anecdotally, I'd go for the world, but that's just my preference.

Hello!

Personally, As I Have Stated On Another Recent Thread I Find The Navitimer World To Be Caricature Of What A Navitimer Should Be! Perhaps, Because I Perceive It To Be To Big And Kinda Gaudy As A Result! The Classic Navitimer Is The Very Embodiment Of The Breitling Ethos "Instruments For Professionals". Nothing Else Says Breitling Like A Classic Navitimer!

P.S Additionally, Check Out Ricardo's Thread Titled Navitimer 01.....OMG!

Hope This Helped You Out!

Cheers,

Enezdez

It's a personal choice, obviously. I would try both on if you can. I was faced with a similar choice only a few months back. I prefer a bigger watch, but the World seemed a little too big for my 6.5" wrist. So I decided to go with a classic Navitimer and haven't looked back. I absolutely love the watch. Good luck and enjoy the shopping process.

This is exactly my thought about the Classic though look wise, I like the World more.

They are two very different pieces. First and foremost, you need to try on a World. It is an extremely large piece . . . much larger than the standard Navi. The white dial World is a stunning piece, but it wears much larger than it's black-dialed brother. You should also consider the Navi 01 in order to get the in house movement. However, this will cost you about $2-3k more than either of the Navi's you're considering.

The bottom line, go try all of them on. One will most certainly speak to you more than the others.

I agree 100%. The Navitimer case and style has many embodiments, and all have there own merits. However, if you want "A" Navitimer I would suggest the Tri-compax standard Navi or Navi 01. Just my two cents.

I wear my Navi all week and find it to be the perfect size and weight for me. And the look is as timeless as any.

I have a sliver dial World and love it, but........it's so busy it takes me about 30 seconds to tell the time, thus I'm selling it.

I love this combo, put it together on the configurator and 6 long months later finally got the nod to purchase. My poor old Navi Heritage now spends most of its time spinning around on a winder..

World - hands down.

I sold my Navitimer classic as the dimensions over time seemed too small for me. The World will appear large, at first, but will optically shrink on you within 7 days.

no one told you that the Navitimer doesn't have a quickset date - I think you should know that.
I own the World with black dial and absolutely love it! Try it on first - at 46mm it's huge!
A better option compared to these two would be to wait until Breitling rolls out the 01 movement into mainstream models, not just LE.
The LE Navitimer 01 has an applied logo on the dial - what a bummer! Never, never in more than 55 years Navitimer had an applied logo - this is quite a departure, and personally for me, not a good change. I'm hoping that non-LE versions will be closer to the Navitimer's historical roots

I own a World (for a few more days :) ) and now a Navi 01 LE and both are fantastic watches. The World is a large watch and IMO, anything smaller than a 7.5" wrist would make it look cartoony. I have a wrist just a bit larger at probably 7.6 and it fits good. It is very large and in charge and WILL draw attension.

The Navi 01 LE is a smaller watch but IMO, more refined. The dial treatment alone sets is a step above the World. It wears a little thicker than the World but for me looks more balanced to my wrist. Having previously owned a Super Avenger and the World, I developed a small bias against the larger watches and now prefer something around 42mm.

let me add some things that may make it easier.

old navitimers are done, finished, no more, the way of the dodo. breitling has none and isnt making any more, and there are very few in the field, i have a silver with arabics, but thats it.

the world is hot, gonna be around for a while, but sold out, there are some in the field still.

the navi b01 limiteds, still available, and the new b01 navi will cost almost as much after the price increase and not have disolay back, red hands or date, and not be limited. the navo b01 limited is the best be i think, but too small for me, so i would have to get the world.
