Would like to know how much you are paying for your contents insurance that covers your Lings in the home and whilst away?

Mine's up for renewal end of the month and have been quoted an extra £200 to add contents cover to my buildings cover in order for them to cover my £3410 Super Avenger.

Does this seem about right or a bit steep?

Also, any recommendations as to who to go for. I'm currently with Directline but may switch to AXA as the quote is more than 50% cheaper than my current one.

Hi. I am also with direct line. Just added 2011 Rolex GMT and they wanted £22 for the year extra on top of my existing building and contents cover

I happen to have insurance but I look at it this way. If someone steals my Lings, I must have made a MISTAKE somewhere. The older guy's around here will be happy to tell you about a few of mine that walked away. The bottom line is, if you are "worthy" of wearing a LING nobody should be able to take it from you. In my case it happened when I wasn't looking, actually I was looking at something else. I hear a lot of BS on here about Diamonds for example and some people say "Watch out if you wear those you are setting yourself up for a problem". My Diamonds SCARE F---H--ds away because of the way I wear them. I once watched a friend of mine counting out over $100,000 in cash right inside a store front window with the door open. People were walking by and I said "Hey don't You Think We Should Shut The Door" ? His reply was "If you have the BALLS to take this from me then go for it". Needless to say I didn't take his money and nobody else did either. I learned a good lesson from him and when I lost 2 SA's and a NAV World when I wasn't looking, it was an expensive lesson but I assure you that it won't happen again, Insurance or not ! If you have REALLY reached the point where you can wear a LING and especially a FULL LING, if you are REALLY in that position nobody will bother you or your LING. Just be wary of Sleazy broads when you are drunk ! especially if you have 3 floors, I left one upstairs and went downstairs with the other and while I was downstairs the upstairs SLEAZE was rummaging through my stuff. I guarantee it won't EVER happen again and it may have saved me from other problems I was not paying attention to. There's a reason for everything and for everything there is a reason.

An extra £200 is madness.

when i added my SF to the insurance it was cheaper to upgrade the policy to an advanced over standard policy and that increased the standard cover to high risk items and worked out cheaper than adding the watch

I currently pay an extra £23 per year to put my Avenger (with an agreed value of £3.5k) on my house insurance. Currently have buildings and contents. Making me a total of about £180 per year (all inc.).

Had to send an approved valuation certificate to them, which was fine as my Dealer did this for me when I brought the watch.

An extra £200 is crazy.

I used to be with Norwich Union and I had to pay about an extra £90 a year for over £12Ks worth of specified items including watches and my wife's engagement ring.

I am now well over the £15K limit that Norwich Union allow so I have moved over to Hiscox. It costs me about £150 a year extra but it covers over £35K  of watches and jewelry.

No need to send any valuations in either. Although you do need an authorised safe and burglar alarm.
