i was just after some insight into the reason the Transocean is £530 cheaper than a Navi 01 both on leather, both same movement, same size same material.

the only differences other than the model itself are the slide rule

just wondered if this is purely branding differences compensating for the price difference.

with a Navi heavy collection im tempted by the TO as my first in house breitling

I suspect that the sliderule is part of it, but a lot is also what they can charge - established iconic model range vs. new model (albeit historic nameplate) that needs to build a reputation.

Are you comparing to the "old" TO price or the "revised" TO price? Not sure about the UK, but retail price was changed in the US. FEAR said his cost went up $1,000 after he quoted original prices to customers. Spoke to my AD last night and he was lamenting about the same.

Said he would obviously honor (or honour, as John Cleese has instructed) the original price, so my 25% discount just jumped to 33%. :D

Roff i suspect you are right which makes the TO good value IMO or should i say slightly better value.

am just weighing up a N01 or a TO on Mesh + a croco on deplyment for almost the same money RRP.

Given i have:
Navitimer 806
Navitimer Fighers
Navitmer Cosmonaute
Navitimer Montbrillant Datora

it seems if i want an in house breitling (i dont like the chronomat at all) i either have to replicate yet another Navi whilst not a bad thing its samey to what i have, so i can either pick up the TO which i love the look of and is very different, or hope they do a Cosmonaute 01 LE and trade out my std cosmo as this has no sentimental value unlike the other 3.

opinions welcome?

kstone, i got the prices from an AD today so i assume im comparing apples and apples but thanks for the update i wasnt aware the price shifted.

I don't think that your price did shift Alex as the UK price increase already happened before the US one.

I would wait and see what comes out of Basel just in case, I consistently hear that there won't me a B02 movement until later in the year, but who knows what models may be announced beyond the B01 GMT Chronomat.

Personally I really like the TO and I think it would be a nice change of pace from the Navis that you have. You could always wait until after Basel to see if they release the in-house Blackbird and see what that's like.

Roff & Roman you are both right either way id def wait until after Basel

Roman, now an in house BB in the same format as the current BB ie no chronomat Bezel font would be a winner hands down but i fear that when they do the BB they will chronomat it and ill hate it.

and in house Breitling and a BB and my breitling purchases will stop until i can save for the 5 non breitlings id like to diversify the collection.

Isn't the BB getting the ax? Go for the TO - gives you an in-house while adding diversity to the breitling collection.

You may have already seen it, but there is finally a wrist shot out there. Posted on the breitling forum on TZ. Looks pretty darn nice IMO. Looks like it wears pretty big too. The only thing I'm torn over is the mesh. My silver dial is coming in brown croc, but I'm debating whether to pick up a mesh too.

i have the mesh on my SOHC LE and while i do like it, with a suit it is ok but id rather have something different and the TO (unless in water) will def dress up well, which means the croco for the most part, that kills it for summer wear in my book.

the BB is getting axed yes but only in its current format im sure they will release a new version, to good a watch and the big date is a nice complication

I'm right there with you man. I think the B01 case itself would be fine but if they throw some bastardized cross between the B01 and the BB bezel on it I'll be very disappointed. I'd also love to see them keep the big date, if not it'll just be a B01 with a different bezel and a black dial.

I saw thhis last night, and I was releived to see that the live pics make this model look just as good. I have been waiting patiently for these to start coming out, and cannot wait to see your silver dial/brown croc combo. Please post more than a couple of shots for dreamers like me
