Post subject: | Steelfish to BlackBird |
Hi, I currently have a steelfish that I have had for about 6 months (from new), I finish my MBA in June and am considering treating myself to a watch upgrade. I have had a good look around and like the Blackbird mainly because of the large date window and the fact you can get it with a matt bracelet. Size wise the blackbird is slightly larger but not by alot compared to the steelfish. The chronomat GT also looks very nice. Will be looking for sell / trade my steelfish for the blackbird and get a 2nd hand blackbird. Just after some views on other watches that can be reccommened for a similar price and from any blackbird owners on feedback around the blackbird, I do like those seiko springdrives but then I love breitlings and always have, decisions decisions, either way the saving has started, roll on june (maybe a bit later if the savings dont go to plan) |

My BB+ has always been my favorite (Brushed with Black Dial they way they were intended) |

I love my polished BB with a black dial, but the brushed ones are outstanding too, not trying to start another brushed vs. polished thread. They're both beautiful and I couldn't be happier with my Bird. |

No insult intended Roman (watch the origional Duke film we talked about and let me know) None taken Al, I was actually trying not to offend anyone. I've noticed that the polished vs. brushed thing can get kinda heated, not to mention a BEB, then all hell breaks loose. I'll need to find that movie and give it a shot. To the OP, I think that you'd be very happy with a BB, it's a great watch that can fit into any occasion, as much as I love my polished BB I think the brushed is probably a better option, the polished bracelet is quite shiny, that's why I've decided to go with straps, and even though the BB bracelet is probably the nicest most comfortable watch bracelet I've ever worn I like straps better anyway. |

Just a quick pic of how good a BB can look on a brown calf strap. I also got a black croc from Frank on here and can't wait to try it out. I'm pretty sure this watch will look great on anything though, if you haven't seen the pic of Al's BB+ on his custom Ostrich strap try to find it, it's gorgeous. ![]() |

You can't go wrong with a BB - a terrific watch and one of the favorites on this site. It is actually just a tad smaller than the Steelfish. Rumor is a BB with the in house movement may be coming out this year. It will be more expensive than the current model. Good luck. |

Love your new quote too! One of my FB quotes. And my top 5 all time movie lines. I feel the rumblings of another Top 5 thread coming. |

A guy I work with just had is BB with him yesterday. We put them side by side and looked at them from every angle. I liked the look of the thickness of my SteelFish better. His pilot bracelet is killer so no contest on the bracelet, BB wins. On the wrist at a quick look had to tell much difference so price wise the SF wins. Take a good look and the chrono plus that big date up top on the BB and it is very nice. All things being equal I'd rather have his BB than my SF. Once you factor in pirce the SF is very tough to beat...not sure if price matters to you or not. I think the perfect solution would be to have a BB as your black faced watch and a SF in blue or white. There, problem solved ![]() |

Al: Thanks man, I'm gonna try to get some good pics when I get home and pick up a new camera. Sharky: Probably my favorite movie of all time. I got into a Godfather mood the other day and changed my stuff up. |

thanks for all the comments, yeah i think i am set on a blackbird (def brushed) money is an issue but I normally get a small bonus that will cover (hopefully) the cost between the watches in may that I can use. that is a nice pic on a brown strap, anyone got any pics with a black strap with white stiching? |

just went to a local AD and tried on the BB, it was really nice in the flesh. Really liked it, then she showed me a range of other breitlings and the one that caught my eye the most was a navitimer world, I never liked navitimers when looking online but it was really nice, the crystal and dial are amazing, it had a blue dial on a blue leather strap. So now i am stuck between the world and the BB |
