To my mind Straps are not metal and Bracelets are. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. Right or Wrong? |

That's how I try to identify between them. All metal=bracelet Other=strap In conversation sometimes "metal strap" is said to me by friends, but I know what they mean. |

I think that most of the times that people here refer to 'metal straps' (and it seems to be that way round rather than 'leather bracelet') is when English is not their first language. I agree that metal is always a bracelet and anything else is always a strap in the Breitling world, but it's not always that cut and dried. The JLC rubber bracelet is a bracelet in my mind simply because it is segmented. I don't know enough about it to know whether it is rubber coated metal or solid rubber, but the fact that it is made up of a number of separate pieces makes it a bracelet in my mind. |

I had not thought about the native tongue thing and I must say that I am constantly awed by the posts of those whose first language is not English. |

Cartier has one similar, although personally, I'd call that a rubberized bracelet, since it's still primarily metal. But I suppose that's splitting hairs. Edit: OK...who are the six yo-yos who voted for metal straps? |

Hmmm...that is another interesting argument Roff. Being that something is segmented, I would refer to that as a bracelet then. A strap (in my book) is non-metal, however, a strap is also something that is one piece of material. I'm sure there are products somewhere out there that are segmented and non-metal....therefore being bracelets. Never thought of it like that ![]() |
