I ran into someone today who was also a watch enthusiast and I was talking about my newest purchase (the Navi World). He brought up how he was looking into the IWC Big Pilot for his next purchase...

What do you prefer and what are your opinions on the World vs the Big Pilot?

To me they are both very classy and I think it would be a tough one.

I would personnally prefer the World over the Big Pilot based on looks. Some like the "in house movement" of the IWC. I do wish the Navitimer range was more water resistant.

I think there may be a few different arguments between these two :D

The big pilot for three reasons.

1. Clean classic pilot dial.
2. The case has a beautiful brushed finish on the sides.
3. The pilot strap looks great on that watch.

I know a lot of people have had issues with their 7 day movements yet mine has been extremely accurate ever since i stopped leaving it on my winder.

Both great watches... but the Big Pilot is my grail watch and gets my vote hands down

Based solely on looks, I prefer the clean and simple looking dial of the BP. The contrast of the white and black is truly striking.
One of my favourite aspects of the watch is the large diamond shaped crown, makes it look so unique.

Mechanically, I don't think you can beat an in-house movement, and the calibre 51111 is truly a work of art.

I think both are fantastic watches. Lookwise I would have to pick the silver dial world. In terms of movement, I think the big pilot steals that one. In terms of value.....the world wins by a landslide. IMO the BP is wayyyy overpriced.

:lingsrock: You did well with your navi world! No need for any Cognitive Dissonance! :lingsrock:

No no no...don't get me wrong... I LOVE my choice and wouldn't trade it for anything, just curious that's all! :D
I think they are both classy as all hell and if I had the extra g's to spend (if I wasn't spending a arm and a leg on my wedding) id probably get that too :D

Sorry to fans of it, but I just don't get the BP. I can't get past the crown, and to me, there is something almost cheap or toyish about the dial.

Big Pilot is an easy choice for me on this one

The amazing thing about the BP is that it wears very well for a big watch. The crown does't dig into the wrist and it looks "just right" on the wrist. It seems too expensive for such a "simple watch ," though.

I think that it's pretty tough to compare these two watches. I love the World, it's just an awesome watch, but there's something about the BP that I also love. I initially hated them before I saw one in person, in real life it's much more impressive than in pictures and the crown doesn't look as ridiculous as it does in pics. That being said, after hearing about some of the issues with IWC's movement I might be a little hesitant about spending $10k on a BP. I also tend to think that IWC's in general are a bit overpriced, but I still love the BP and if I were given the choice between the two I'd probably go with the BP.
