Bronze Chrono Cockpit/Galactic?? Or Chrono Superocean??

First time posting, but a reader of this forum. Just wondering if anyone had thoughts on the following to help me out:

I own a Colt GMT w/blue dial. I was thinking about getting the Chrono Superocean w/white dial and a brown leather strap.

Just today I saw a Chrono Cockpit w/bronze dial and silver roman numerals, and a brown leather strap. It looked AMAZING! Now what do you think:

- Even though I liked the bronze dial, I'm usually wearing navy or charcoal gray suits, can I get away with a bronze dial and brown leather strap?
- Should I get the discontinued Chrono Cockpit or the new Chrono Galactic (same dial and leather strap)?
- Should I give up on the bronze dial and just get the Chrono Superocean?

I know this just comes down to personal taste, but I'm really concerned that I won't be able to enjoy the bronze dial as much as I would want to. :? Does anyone out there wear one watch mainly for work and changes it up for afterhours and weekends? Thanks in advance for your time and opinions!

If you're not sure about the galactic-style bezel, why not look into getting a Chrono Galactic with a different coloured face that you know you could always wear? There's blue, white and black, which I think looks especially sharp and would probably go with anything. Just a thought?

I appreciate the quick response. Yeah, I'm really killing myself on this one because the bronze dial is calling to me. I feel like I'd be running home just to get it on my wrist after a day at the office! :D

I think the white dial with the brown leather strap would look good and go with anything, but then why not just get the Chrono Superocean?

This is killing me.. :?

Even though both the Chrono Galactic and Chrono SO are considered sporty designs, I think the Galactic with the bronze dial/roman numerals would wear a little more dressy.

Have you thought about the size difference and is this a factor? Your wearing a Colt GMT now which is closer to the Galactic in size. If you haven't tried a Chrono SO, you may want to. It is considerably thicker (16-17mm) and heavier than the Galactic and GMT. I don't know if this is an issue or not.

I like the looks of both designs and IMO the Crono SO would give you a little more rugged tool look and the Galactic a more dress/sport (?).

These are good tips, thanks. My wife is looking on in amusement as I torture myself on this! She bought me the Colt as an engagement gift and wants me to just get the watch I like and not to worry about wearing it all the time because heck, I can always wear the one she got me!

That being said, I'm thinking the bronze Chrono Cockpit is the way to go since I don't really like the bezel on the Galactic and it's quite different from my Colt. I looked at the Chrono SO in the new Breitling Boutique in NY (awesome!) and didn't mind the thickness even with my tiny wrists (6.0 in.). But maybe it's still too close to what I already have.

Maybe I can even pull off the bronze dial and brown leather strap in a gray suit??? With a nice lavender shirt!? :wink:

Have you considered the Chrono Cockpit (and I know what you mean about the bronze dial; I tried on myself and liked it a lot, despite brown not really being my thing, generally) on a bracelet? It would end the entire strap-colour issue completely...

Yeah, I'm thinking about that too. I could get a bracelet and buy the leather strap and switch it in when I want. One thing I do know, I ain't going near a Galactic. At least that part is easy..

Thanks for the feedback here and assistance (jnelson), this is a great community and I hope to learn much about more about my Lings as my collection grows. I've always wanted a Breitling since my dad bought me $10 knock-offs when I was a kid and now I can appreciate (and afford - for now :D ) the real deal.

So I went in a completely different direction after reading a thread comparing the Cockpits to the Galactics and I ended up finding and buying this gem today:

(I'll post some real pics when I get it.) Funny thing is, it's similar to that $10 fake I had and fell in love with. Except its real and beautiful.

I'm still thinking about the Chrono Cockpit with bronze dial and brown leather strap I saw so I may actually try to bargain with the AD on it since I've gotten some advice that I should be able to make some headway with this one. Maybe I'll grow my collection from 1 to 3 in just a few days! So exciting! Can't wait for tomorrow!
