I have the Chrono Evo and just had the case brushed. In doing so, I rubbed a little bit of the AR coating off. I've read on other post that it would be more cost efficient to replace the crystal rather than re-coating it. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement crystal? I don't want to send the watch back to Breitling because the case was brushed and I'm sure this would be an issue with them. I am looking for alternative means of obtaining the replacement.

I don't think that a brushed case will be an issue for Breitling these days, but an aftermarket crystal likely would be because that will compromise the integrity of the movement. For that reason you are likely better going through Breitling.

In terms of reapplying the AR vs. replacement, Breitling's position is that they replace, but an aftermarket place can reapply - although I don't know whether the crystal needs to be removed. No experience, but I believe that these guys do it - http://internationalwatchworks.com/

My watchmaker can buy the replacement crystal from breitling and install it for you. You need to buy a coulee gaskets/ seals at the same time. It's much less than having breitling do it.

Thanks for the info guys. IWW was already my top choice. But before I go with them, I was wondering if anybody knew of any place local to Los Angeles?

I spoke to Jack at IWW a while back and he told me that they cannot re-coat a crystal. Replacement was his only suggestion. I assume that this means that they can only coat a bare crystal, but cannot remove/re-coat...but thats only my assumption.

I'm very anal about blemishes, so I've already removed all of the AR from the top side. I'll keep looking for a replacement or fix though. Thanks.

If I could ask, what did you do to remove the AR coating from your watch? I have some problems with my Steelfish and would like to know how to remove the remainder of the coating safely.

Polywatch or Cape Cod will both remove it.

Helderberg, I actually used the same type of pad that was used to brush the case. It will be a lot faster than a cape cod polishing cloth and won't scratch the sapphire. However, be sure that you don't come in contact with any of the polished surfaces on the case.

I spoke to him also. They can only coat the INSIDE part of the crystal. So this wouldn't be any help to you.
