Post subject:  Breitling Maintenance

I was just wondering what everyone's AD says about how often they should have their watches maintained. The AD I bought from says "if it's not broke, don't fix it." I've read some posts though about people who have never had their watches in for a 3-5 year check up and they work perfect. One AD I visited told me you wouldn't drive a car without oil, and the same goes for your watch. I agree with the second AD and his car analogy, but just curious to see what everyone else hears.

Everything I've heard is from the "if it ain't broke" school of thought. If it starts to gain/lose time dramatically then it's due a service. Personally I leave mine 5 years or so if they are keeping good time. If you wear your Breitlings in harsh environments (i.e. in the sea, swimming pool or saunas, etc) then it's worth getting the water resistancy checked out every couple of years or so as hardening of the gaskets can end up being costly if your watch's insides accidentally take a bath due to a failure!

Definitely with the leave it 'til it needs it side, my AD suggested that 5 - 7 years is the average for a Breitling.

You should run the chronograph every now and then though to keep all those parts of the mechanism lubricated.
